does anyone have a s/r pcm they want to sell or trade? i am also trying to find a cluster for the s/r as well.

On the pcm, your going to be better off getting a chip. I suggest SCT 4 bank chip or XCal 2 (look into Mc Racing, they are the only authorized dealer local, but you can not get the pro racer from them)

As for the cluster I'll keep my eyes open for one, but they are very rare. I suggest doing a car-parts.com search , and looking for a yellow zx2..then hunting it down that way.

A good s/r pcm runs around 300 bucks
S/r Cluster runs 300+

Also check with CJW , he has a few s/r pcm's..dunno if he'd sale one or not though.

I have 2 s/r pcms but Im not sure if I want to part them yet or not cuz I want to collect all three then take a picture. Then sell them.

Yea I know its wierd but I am wierd

And technically there is 6 s/r pcms. 4 came stock. 2 were remakes. I have cwq3, xhg3, and currently I have the elusive little bastard known as jhj0 which came stock in the non cali issue 99 s/rs...yes there were like 8 of them and yes I have one in my possesion

There was also ngp0, grs0(crap), and some ywx0 (dont quite remember it but it is something liek that, also crap)

by local, where at? if they are close enough, it would give me more confidence to buy the chip so i can take it directly to them to get it burned and changed instead of sending it in the mail...

i can't afford the chips right now, so i want the next best thing.

i found this old woman that had an s/r but i couldn't talk her into trading her pcm for mine, i told her i would give her 50 bucks and she would get better gas mileage; i don't know if that is true. she was like 50 firkin' years old, what does she need a car like that for anyway! i think it belonged to her son and she wouldn't tell me.

250-300 for a chip vs 300 for a s/r pcm , plus the chip will give you more

300 for a cluster?!!! I must of made out good then. I got mine for like 130 bucks.

An s/r PCM there chief.

but yeah like inis said... might as well just go with a chip, you can always have em reprogrammed later after you get some mods rollin.
jdrzx2
if i was going to go with a chip i would go with the whole sct tuning thing. i don't know much about it other than what inis told me about it, like having multiple settings and custom tuning. i'm just trying to find something cheap to use until i start to put some real money in the car.
inis
you can get an sct chip for 250-300 and upgrade to the racer package later for 300-400 which is about the same price as buying the racer package to start with.

And is also around the same price as an s/r pcm. No reason to spend money on somethin your gonna replace later, be better just to go ahead and go with sct. Not gonna cost you much more. Up to you man, just my friendly input :)

Back to the pcm debate

all right, i guess i will go with that buying the chip and upgrading later. just tell me where to go and i will pick it up next month.

just let me get one thing straight, i can reuse the chip?
CJW
if you get a custom one yes. The standard blue chip is not custom programable.
jdrzx2
i figured you would be the one to respond to that. didn't you get the sport version of sct or something.
CJW
I got the xcaliber2. It is the hand held unit that has a diagnostics tool and datalogger as well as being able to hold 3 tunes plus the stock tune.
