Im not a fan of those type but I know a lot that use them.

I like the stainless kits that have the round plates with 4 bolts holes and the pins are attached under the hood with a cable and ran out to the top.

thats what I have now, very hard to fine a TRUE ss kit..and when you do most of the time its just a ss coating..and once you scratch them they'll rust in that spot (example: mine) , and on top of that they cost the same if not more then those I posted..

the pin dangling everytime is a PITA

I had those Sparco pins on my last hood. They worked well for me. Paul has a set on Godzilla now I believe.

Same ones I have on mine. Wouldn't trade em for another pair I had some ford racing ones with the pin and cables on the mustang they were ok but if I ever buy another pair for a car it'll be these again.

Black sounds good as long as it doesn't start chippin off, course theres never nothin wrong with silver either.

Nothin' wrong with silver. it'd match your car better than black would.
