Hi everybody so I'm in a good mood but I'm also in a very horrible mood at the same time weird huh? I made it back to Italy with minimal retardedness (not really but that's a story for another area) Last night I conned myself into getting a ride to where my motorcycle is being stored  yay w00t and all that stuff. Well turns out I didn't really store my motorcycle properlly and the buddy I left it with didn't have time to start it regularly (makes since cause I didn't take the time to mow his yard while he was in Iraq :-P )
Well I go to start my bike and the battery is dead, no big surprise tehre I was expecting it so I got one of the local kids on a 4 wheeler (there is always someone running around with a 4 wheeler in the Italian country) to jump my bike, all the lights came on and I'm thinking ok I'm in bussiness. hit the starter button and it cranked over beutifully, and it cranked, and cranked, and cranked. That bitch didn't start. she's so lazy she didn't even try to start no hiccup or anything.
So here's what I did I pulled a spark plug grounded it on the head turned the motor over and it sparked great outside the bike, I don't know what the compression is like on that bike so it might be too weak to fire in the bike which is why I'm gonna get the batter completely charged and try again with new plugs.
My one worry and question though is if the immobilizer on the ecu would have reset itself from having the battery dead??? I don't know if it would or not does anyone know if a ducati will do something evil like that? I wouldn't doubt it, evil Italians.
I went by my favorite Italian ducati dealer (if you're ever in northern Italy and in need of buying a motorcycle or getting parts visit Maro, no I didn't forget the i it's not mario, at Albatros in Sacily) and he said well bring the battery to me and I'll take care of it otherwise you might have to bring the bike in to play with the ecu :( after all that bad news I had to go to a bar, drink some beer, and get my mojo on instead.
Ok that's my rant if anyone knows anything about the immobilizer on these bikes then I'd like to know thanks.

I don't have much knowlege on ducati's but I have rebuilt a bike from the frame up. Are you getting fuel? Do you smell it comming from the tail pipe? Are those are fuel injected? I'm guessing they are seeing as you have an ecu. If not, the floats in the carb might be stuck. These are just some idea's. There's no reason that I can think of that you'd be getting weak spark inside the chamber and outside it's strong. It sounds to me like it could be a fuel or timing issue. If you didn't store it right like you said, did you store it with gas in the tank? If so, your gas might have gone bad. Keep me informed.

depending how long its been sitting, but I bet the gas is gelled up...common thing on a bike sitting for a bit..

How is the immobilizer supposed to work? If it's supposed to kill the spark so the bike won't run, and you're getting spark, then the immobilizer hasn't kicked in. (just a theory, I don't know how the immobilizer is supposed to work.)

Another vote for bad gas/clogged injectors/carbs.

Can you get StaBil in Italy? (It's supposed to prevent gasoline from going bad when vehicles are stored.)

yea I actually have no idea if the immobilizer is supposed to kill spark, kill power to the injectors, kill the starter, or all of the above :? I've got a good vote in also for bad gas butt dunno yet didn't get to go out there today most likely gonna be like Tuesday before I get to play with it then and maybe not even then cause I have to go to some reintegration briefing's most of the day tuesday and wednesday, so they can tell me not to rape anyone and to obey the law and make sure I'm not gonna go nuts when I hear a car backfire or something.

I'll definitely let everyone know what I eventually find out.
