dash
Main [perpetually half-broken]:
AMD AthlonXP 3200+ [Barton, I think]
Asus A7N8X Deluxe V2.0
2GB Samsung PC3200
PNY 6600GT
12x DVD-RW
52x CD-RW

Bitchbox [currently without a purpose]:
AMD AthlonXP 950
something Elitegroup, I forget
2x256 Micron PC2100
some POS GPU
24x CD-ROM
Ultra 400w

Fileserver [semi-construction phase]:
AMD AthlonXP 2200+ Thoroughbred
DFI Lanparty NFII Ultra B
no RAM atm
no GPU atm
12x DVD-ROM
48x CD-RW
Ultra 400w
17" Dell CRT

The Bitchbox and Fileserver might give up and become one computer. Of course, as I may be coming into a much larger supply of PC parts soonish, I may use those to finish mine. Or we may compile and get a couple of good ones instead of piles of scheisse ones. :P

dell inspiron 5100...nothing special really

it runs decent

My desktop was a cheap biostar mobo
2.8ghz p4
2gb ddr ram
nvidia g force vid card
5.1 sound car
250 gb 7200 rpm seagate hdd
cheap a drive
sony dvd drive
sony dvd/cd burner/reader
hdd fan
4 case fans
Chieftech dragon mini case
some 800watt power supply(i think it's what broke)
22" crate monitor

ran great till I broke it somehow. I went on vacation then the bastard just didnt turn on...

Um...my work comp
Its a dell workstation(dunno number)
3.2ghz
4gbs dual channel ddr
nvidia vid card
no sound card
stock dell everything
22" flat panel

runs good. I use it for 3d modelling in Inventor and solidworks. I need power...In fact I cant wait until windows upgrades and I can use more than 4gbs of ram.

Next time around I get to order the comp :-)

Gee, last I checked, even the FREE version of Linux can use 64GB of RAM thumbsup.gif

PS: your next work computer is gonna be ordered from Pingring Consulting, right? yes.gif

I hope you mean 64mb wink.gif

And no...sadly we have a contract with dell. I have to custom order it through them. But I can get every option. So that's kinda cool I guess
insta
Why do you hope I meant 64mb? I know what I typed. :P

The limits on that operating system are insane, nowhere close to what us mere mortals will ever hit. The XFS filesystem (you can pick and choose -- rather than NTFS, there's like 8, each optimized a different way) can handle something like 9,000,000 terabytes of space ...

I'll see if I can get bearded1 back in here to talk about the clusters he works with ...
CJW
Oh nevermind it can handle. I read it wrong. I read it as it need 64mb to run it. lol nevermind.

Oh and I can't run linux at work...we are contracted by dell with their latest version of windows. I want windows to be able to recognize 8gbs of dual channel ddr

Yeah, I didn't think you could use it, nor was I really suggesting it. I have to get my shots in there somewhere!

even though I use Windows at work and home
CJW
ill have linux in my car evenually barring any complications beyond what we can handle
Godzilla
