So my MX-3 has a recall on it's automatic seatbelts, but they were already replaced once in 2001. I have been researching on the net and found out that the seatbelt warranty was extended to the life of the car. The dealership i talked to said it only has a 12 month warranty on it. They gave me an 800 number to call and complain. After being on hold for 2 hours i finally got a hold of someone and explained to them the info i found and an actual letter about the recall someone had and emailed it to the guy i was talking to. He ask to put me on hold for a few minutes. When he returns he informs me he is going to give the dealership a call as soon as he gets there in the morning. Hopefully this is a good thing. He said he would call the warranty department to find out if it actually is covered. If not, i have the number for the NTSB. The letter i found says if the dealer refuses to replace the part in a reasonable amount of time or at no cost to give them a call. Hopefully i do not have to call them. We shall see, i will keep everyone informed.

Better solution:

1) Make sure warranty is extended to lifetime of car. Don't tell dealer.
2) Go to dealer, say "I heard there was a recall for this car. Will you fix it?"
3) Dealer turns you down
4) Sustain minor injury caused by this part "failing"
5) Sue dealer for negligence
6) Buy go-fast parts for car

and how do you suggest i sustain a minor injury?

roll down your window, stick your head out and open the door and as the seat belt moves forward it will wrap around you and choke you or dislocate your shoulder, lol
