well im glad you got this for free. then you can get liability insurance and really not have to pay much towards it. im sure we can get some parts to fix it cheap and you will be rollin in a new ride. just for god sakes keep this car ok?! it was free, insurance will be cheap, and we can fix it super easy too. You cant beat that!
MyNeonSaysHi
Congrats! I would love to have a free car! Then mod the hell out of it!

What happened to the yellow one?

the SR is his dads car now. not sure what they are going to do now. They now have three cars and one truck for a family of 3 lol

I got a free car for the wife a 98 olds cutlass Very nice family ride. Give us some more details on the ZX2.
Matt
I will when i get a camera. I got the car in my garage kyle could take pictures for me that would be awesome. A lot but not to much cost whys on front end damage. Needs a new front bumper a hood and a fender body whys, needs a new A/C condensor, Raditor and head light for the driver side! That about all we can tell for right now. more pictures when kyle comes over to help set them up!

Update: We might be selling the 99 Silver ZX2 for around 800 bucks runs great drives great front end damage. And we have the front from strut to strut to fix it. No title! thats the only thing that i would say sucks about this car! I took over on my S/R again because i love the car! I am wanting to sell my S/R PCM though and go with on from a 5 spd normal zx2 Because I dont go that fast and if i do 106 is plenty!

Yeah I have been searching forums for months... First for superchip info.. I got a superchip then I realized that the S/R PCM is better than my stock w/ the chip I have to find one now haha..... Yeah I ended up buying my ZX2 just cause it was what was right for the price but after a few mods I like it more and more...... but the S/R comp sounds nice..... If u know how to get one let me know.... anyone tried going to ford and actully get the comp flashed with a S/R if they even can? (iv heard alot about it but reallly no first hand experiance)
inis
they can't , better of sticking with a stock pcm, and a pcm reflash via sct software.

So they cant reflash it....? I talked to a ford tech the other day and he said they might have a update..... But he didnt know for sure (sposed to call back never did) would that be better than my stock PCM with my superchip? Like without the chip it will max at 106 mph with the chip it will go over the limiter but stresses to go 110 mph but it will.... maybe get like 115.... (red line it proably at 120.. need more road though) Another problem I am having is when at high speeds if I put in the clutch the whole car will die completely.... (losing power steering and brakes) ya scary but will work fine after I turn over and put back in gear..... yeah Ideas?
inis
probally just the tune on the chip. Most of the time those are mail order and not really made to your mods. Just get a sct chip and have it tuned to your mods. It will be better then a s/r pcm.

No the whole car will die at high speeds when I put in the clutch no matter what (chip or no chip)? I dont know what it could be? maybe the idle too low? I donno? I would love to get the excal2 or diablo or somthing but I dont have any local shops w/ the dyno ect.. to tune one to my car.... ( a little too advanced..... Or at least sounds like it?) thats why I want an S/R and tune my blue superchip to the s/r comp. that would have to add a lil somthing to the s/r wouldnt you think? ( at least a couple horses?) I dont know I just want to find the easiest way to get ponys.... I may think about a xcal2 or somthnig if it comes down to it I am just not sure cause I dont know much about those kinds.... like what you have to do to get it programmed?
pissdrunx16
are we the only ones left with zx2s or what haha? this place is deserted

no point in getting a s/r pc then adding a chip. The chip overrides all stock configurations , no matter what pcm code you have. I'd stick with your current pcm, plus a chip that has been dyno tuned for your car. What city/state are you in?

as far as the dieing at highspeeds , look for a vaccum leak, thats about all I can think of.

But whe getting the superchip from superchips they flash the chip with a code 4 your ecu... like I bought it from a guy who had it flashed for like HXC4 or somthinglike that another plan stock zx2 ecu... n it wouldnt work on my CIS2 or somthing that like... so I had to take it to the shop told them the old one programed on it and the ecu code on mine.... they flashed it with my code and wabam...! it works.... so if I get a S/R ecu and have my chip flashed agian to that ecu wouldnt it inprove the S/R at least a little bit like a horse or so?

Yeah it seriously is so scary when the car just dies!!!! I was going through the last corner before a straight where I run the car and it dies in the middle of the turn (usually going mildy fast at this point)!!! so scary w/ no power steering or brakes going through ir ahhah

Say i order an excal chip what do I have to do to get it programmed? Like take it in dyno and calibrate it that way or is it somwhat like the superchip (specific codes... programmed into the chip for that ecu?)(can be done through mail ect.)?
pissdrunx16
Oh by the way I am in Oregon.... So no worries for emissions haha

reason the pcm code has to match is so it works, kind of like having serial number match.... otherwise it wont work. It has nothing to do with the performance of it, its just a key to make it work properly.

xcal 2 is also a good choice, for the most power you need dyno tuned...otherwise you can just order one and tell the seller what mods you have and hope for the best.
CJW
I have an xcal 2. It's a nice unit.

Could you recommend one that is accurate enough to tell my mods to? Or even where I can order one at? just cause at my location I dont have the facilities to dyno tune..
pissdrunx16
wouldnt the s/r comp be better by itself then? Since my car struggles to hit 115 with the chip? I just figured that they had different tunes for different computer codes..... so hince I thought that the s/r chip flash would make the s/r ecu a little better......? So what is the pont in having a different program for every stock zx2 ecu? couldnt the make just one? Oh would it be possible to find a used already tunes xcal and put it i my car? or is that the same concept? One more thing anyone reccommend a good exhause system? and or if any of the exause system eliminate the cat converter? hahah sorry so many questions............... I could continue but ill leave it at that ahaha
CJW
the xcal 2 would be better than the s/r pcm. You can go to sctflash.com and try to find a dealer on there or through there.

A standard chip(either blue superchip, or ebay) are crap. Not worth the money at all.

Exhaust. trubendz.com makes a catback. Look up kamikaze headers. They make one for the zx2 with IMO is the best...it removes the cat.

So they should be able to tune the xcal2 chip via mail? I have a superchip and I really dont notice any increase in power just the limiter removed..... if anything It wasnt very much power.... and I have somone that will sell me the XHG3 computer..... Do you think this would be better than my stock with blue chip?
pissdrunx16
would it be possible to find a use xcal2? Well they would have to have the same comp code and mods to work right huh? They only reason I havent got an xcal is because it sounds difficuly to get up and working..... but i might just be stressing it I donno? haha
pissdrunx16
haha yeah if somone could explain if I ordered a new x2 what I would have to do to get it to work in my car?

and Does anyone know if the stanless OBX header on ebay is any good? Mount good, O2 work? Because the OBX looks similar to the kamakazie but way less and if made of stainless all the better right?
CJW
First settle down.

Now, the normal superchip sucks and is a waste of money. VERY little gains if at all. SCT custom tuned chips can be order online and they can send you a decent tune through the mail. Also with the X2 you have the ability to get new tunes through email and put them on the tuner and then into the car. It has a built in datalogger so you can log your sensors and have a better tune built.

SCT tuning is going to be 100% better than xhg3

Don't buy used custom tuning. It may look cheaper but you need to get it retuned which will cost shipping and 75-150 dollars for a retune. Not so cheap once you get it finished. And yes, one tune may or may not work with your car pending your computer code and your mods vs their mods. It's not a wise idea to do it regardless.

The x2 you plug into the obd-2 port under the drivers side of the dash. You follow the prompts on the screen. It will tell you to start the car. You do it. It is tuned.

The OBX header on ebay is a ripoff of zxtuner.com's hotshot header he used to sell. The hotshot header had a 2.25" outlet. The OBX has a 2"(stock) outlet. It is a little better than stock... Look into the kamikaze 4-1 header if you want a full length header. The kamikaze has dynoed better numbers overall than the hotshot and the obx. Just because one is stainless does not make it better. The o2 on all of them work like they should. However you will throw a code with all of them because of your cat being deleted. Which can be taken care of in your custom tuning with SCT.

I can answer questions all day but I'm not going to keep answering 10 questions per post. I have ADHD as it is and can't concentrate enough to pick all the questions out. www.teamzx2.com has a buttload of info on the zx2. A handful of aholes and a handful of decent guys. I'd suggest searching around on there a bit.
pissdrunx16
yeah man sorry about raining you with questions I just have so many... Expesially about the SCT..... Since I dont have the $ for the SCT at the moment and I still need exhaust I think I will wait on the SCT.... and I am still not 100% sure on what I am going to get myself into..?.. I bought the s/r pcm... I think I am going to spend the 35 bucks and the the superchips place here reflash it for the s/r pcm... that has to be better than my stok pcm w/ da chip.... and when I get the SCT I will used my old shitty stock pcm to tune..... But I figure the exhaust will help a great increase in power vs. stock.. So as for now I am saving for exhaust haha.... Yah I thank all of you guys for answering all my questions.... Cool group of duds hahaha
pissdrunx16
So the sct if I order one I just tell then my comp code then they flash a x2 with a couple different codes for my car? Then i select da best code n have the option to do tweaks too? Is it a chip or just that pad thing? Does it like reflash the whole pcm? Like plug it in to obd port flash the comp unplugg then ur done? thanks guys

When you order you tell them either all of your mods or all of the mods you plan in the near future. They send you the unit pre programed for your computer code and only your computer code. Once used it will not work on any other car but yours. They can do multiple tunes for different octanes and/or mods(in case you plan for the future.)

You plug it into the obd-2 port and follow the steps on the screen. Once done you unplug it and store it somewhere because you are done and the car is flashed.

And calm thy self young one biggrin.gif

Ok that sounds alot easier than i thought..... Can you still do minor tweaks with the sct? Hey I am glad this place exisists haha..... I would be pulling my hair out..... My girlfriend asked me what I wanted for vday and I told her exhaust so I am praying she will get it for me haha
CJW
some tweaks you can do your self. But only within moron range. Basically, a area plus or minus the tune that will not blow up your motor.
pissdrunx16
yeah so it sounds like I am going for kami header and trubends exhauset...
pissdrunx16
ok so if I get the S/R comp in my stock non S/R car.... will the speedo be reading wrong (on the stock gauge cluster 120)???????
inis
dude I'm getting pretty upset, start your own thread. You've bummed this thread enough.....

start your own.
