how do you deactivate that whole thing? won't your check engine light come on if you take that off?
CJW
You have to have sct tuning for it to run/act properly. Just removing vct will not only throw a cel but it will make your car run like shit. VCT parameters are found throughout every inch of the zx2's pcm tables. The computer will still do what it feels like with air/fuel/etc when it thinks vct will be doing stuff.

You actually lose power running no tuning with vct delete over just keeping vct.

HOWEVER...the reason, from my understanding, he is doing it right away now is that he cant stand when the vct surges and drops. Which I completely understand.

I however have tuning and just havent done my vct delete yet...have all the parts as well. Id like to get a dyno before and after with it though so Im holding off till it is a bit warmer out.

so if the car is going to run with less power, why take off the vct? i don't know anything about it except ford used it instead of an egr system, and to be honest i don't even know what that does.

yes I plan to lose vct because of the surges, it is annoying as fuck especially since I have a solid rear mount.
I'm still in the search for a pcm the same code as cjw so I can have him lend me his tune..least til I have money to get SCT..as of right now my next $$ is going towards rims/wheels.

As far as losing power, that doesn't really bother me as I've established alot of power already, losing alittle for now wont bother me. Gaining rims and tires will give me a better run also..I spin through first and most of second as it is..getting traction will def help me roll a bit faster wink.gif

what do you guys mean by surges? i don't ever seem to notice a difference in my cars performance at anytime, unless it is hot or cold out.
CJW
you dont notice it till you have more mods and it is heightened by es or solid mounts.

Jarred you goin with some lightweight 15s or 16s?

I have 14's on the front, I can spin them through first and most of second..its mostly because of the width (lack of) biggrin.gif

normally run around 255 each, I have a connection for 190 each. 15's weight 10.8 (or 10.5 i forget) lbs each.
