does any one know of a place that does quality work but at an affordable price? unsure.gif
redbeardracer
I have used J & S Transmission in Parkville. 816-505-2487. They do good work.

I've never found any shop to do an automatic transmission rebuild for what I consider an "affordable" price.

dude seriously if your car needs a tranny rebuild and is having all these issues, your DAD needs to learn how to spend and waste his money. He had found several cars that cost a bit more then that 929 and we're mint and needed no maintance. I've heard nothing but problems about that 929.

no its just an old car. and i have no idea how the people that own it before me treated it. but it is acting up a little bit.

and as for my dad spending his money he will if it needs it (and it might) but i would have to pay him back.

oh...

how are you buying nitrous? ermm.gif

as of now i am not. but i now have two jobs, one during the week and one on the weekened. and once i am out of school in may my week job will be bringing me more money. cool.gif

oh and if anyone needs a job and can find 900 S. 66th Terr in KCK then they might be able to get a job cause we are hirning. it is a shop that does anything and everything on emergency vehicles.

Will you describe the symptoms, please?

The doctors are in... biggrin.gif

from stop to go the car doesnt want to accellerate any faster then 5 mph until about 3-4 k rpm then it kicks in and then it will pick up. then sometimes it will start to stutter and jump. and tonite my ces light kept going on and off. i checked all the fluids and every thing is fine.

you're in automotive classes right? volunteer your cars tranny for the transmissions classes if you have them. i'm series.

when i lived in cali there was a toyota specialty school at the college i attended and my wife had an echo. we would take her car there and they would fix it for us at dealer cost price on parts and with no labor fees. they used it as a model to instruct students on how to fix toyotas.

Before you blame the tranny, I'd diagnose the CEL trouble code. It's blinking a series to tell you what the problem is.

It could be your MAF or some other engine electrical sensor. Don't think we ever got to the bottom of that MAF issue.

When you turn the car on, how many flashes of the CEL? Could be long and short flashes. If it's a 93, it may be too early for a plug-in code reader.

Might be as simple as dirty fuel injectors. Ever run any Chevron Techron through the gas tank?

Has the car always done this since the day you bought it, or was something changed and it started "stumbling"?

mike my comment was based off the fact to buy a vehicle that works properly from the get go ..and save the trouble..rather then buying a vehicle that you need to use as a DD and has issues. Seems the wiser investment would have been spend the extra money then and have no problems now..vs spending it overtime and have nothing but issues...and possiblity of being carless.

Hope you figure out what it is..and car starts running better.

Hey Rodney, do these cars have shift solenoids? If so that could be the problem.
redbeardracer
I don't know if that car has shift solenoids.

But Mike doesn't say anything about bad shifts. He doesn't say "it slips". It's difficult to diagnose over the web, but it sounds to me like a low-rpm stumble, that could be many sensor or solenoid -related things. Or maybe just a bad electrical connection on a 13 year old car.

I do know we had a '95 626 that just flat wouldn't run, threw CELs, etc. Turned out it was the AFM. I got the car from a mechanic. He said it needed a tranny. The price was right and I thought swapping a tranny sounded like fun. (I'm back on my meds now, so I don't have many of those thoughts anymore.) Anyway, after counting the flashes, and probing the wires to check the MAF resistance, I replaced the MAF, and the car ran like a champ. We got 12,500 miles out of that thing (total was 169,000 on the clock), and then sold it to Pick-n-Pull (u-wrench-it). Tranny finally did go bad. Total cost of ownership for the whole year/12500 miles was something like $500 for us.

ah hell this wont work over the web if i can make it out to another garage day then i can show ya.

oh and the cel only comes on when i am going to work out in kck. it just king turns on and then later it will go away like it had no idea why it came on in the first place.
redbeardracer
The CEL codes may still be stored in your computer. Can you find a "test" box under your hood somewhere? Do you have a voltmeter or circuit tester light? If so, this may help you: CEL Test procedure
street_tuner87
i have obd1 and i do have port for it but i cant find any place that can do it.
redbeardracer
Then we must teach ourselves!

Can you find a small black plastic box under your hood that is rectangular, about 1" x 3", and has a removable cap?

as it said in my previous post i do have a port for diagnostics. my car can be pluged i just need to find a place to do it.

but it doesnt matter no any way now. i finished my intake today and put it in and the car works perfectly and even better now so every thing is cool, just need to do a tranny service at jiffy and call it good.
