Alright, a guy i know is making custom aluminum spark plug covers for the 98 valve covers, and he is working on covers for the 99+ too. I am getting a 98 cover, but i am unsure of exactly what will look the best. So i am asking for your opinions, please no flaming. My choices are below.

Valve cover can be:
*Polished
*Powdercoated red

Plug cover can be:
*polished
*anodized red

Logo to be engraved or etched can be:

99+ he'll have no luck, I've seen it tried before without ghetto rigging, its not achievable.
as far as 98's there already is a metal replacement out there, actaully there is two companys that do it.

As far as Cosworth, Cosworth has NOTHING to do with the zetec, IMO it would be like slapping a TYPE R tag on the back of a zx2...cheesey..

as far as polishing the Cam Cover, I have done it, it has very good results but over time it needs polishing again..guess a engine fire didn't help.

Red cam cover, polished spark cover

And if you put cosworth on your car and dont have cosworth in your car....I will beat you when I come out to KC.(not in a race, actually to beat sense into you)...cuz thats what friends do thumbsup.gif

lol, what color is your intake. i will have my 98 vavle cover chromed when i have around 200 bucks just sitting here. i don't think i will put the cover back on and just show off red spark plug wires.

Um that will be a very very horrible idea if they dip the whole valve cover....you dont want chrome(nickel) on the inside of that thing.

And in another thread you just said your headunit weighed too much...now your chroming things...Ugh you are crazy turned.gif wacko.gif teehee.gif yes.gif

just messing...but yea wacko.gif

chroming isn't that heavy. the place told me that it might weigh another 1/2 pound at the most and they have ways to only chrome the outside of the valve cover. they did some work on a harley that my stepdad owned and it looked really good.

Mr every ounce counts too...remember? laugh.gif

chroming is very heavy, I had a job at a chrome shop..its heavy shit

maybe the loss of my headunit will compensate for the added weight of the chroming. i'm still not sure if i want to do though. i think powdercoating finishes have come in a shinny metallic coating before. i still want to do a little more research. as for now i have the 99 and up valve cover on my car.
arden
why not polish it? if anything you reduce a couple ounces of primper and paint that was on it... same shiny look. its not hard, im doing a cover for a escort lx for my friend...

so stray from cosoworth, thats understandable, ill find something else. as for my intake, its polished. all i have got so far is powdercoat the valve cover, and anodize or polish the spark cover...
jdrzx2
i have done that, it just doesn't match the intake so i would like to have it chromed, it's not really nessecary, i may just keep the newer valve cover on there, i'm still thinking about it.
