Just another thread getter, what kind of car did you pass your DL in?

I passed mine in a 89 xlt ford aerostar, it had 4xx,xxx miles and the bumpers where falling off of it. I had never even drove when I took the test, later that night I drove my car I had for a year before I got my dl, drove it to work..with no insurance or tags, or even titling it in my name..
oh btw it was a stick and I never drove one of those either, tought myself alot that day.. ever since I've been stuck on sticks.. hate auto's

the good old days.

1969 Simca 1204 5 door hatchback. 4 cyl fwd 4 speed stick. Made in France, imported by Chrysler. It was 5 years old when I took my test, which I passed first try, but I did stall the car once at a stop sign.

I bet none of you have ever heard of that car before. They only imported it for a few years. I don't think we ever saw another one like it. And that's a good thing, 'cause they're kinda ugly.

My best driver's ed story was when I had my permit, and I was driving my Mom and younger brother home. We went under an underpass, and when we came out on the other side, there was a tornado in plain sight - about .5 mile away, but it looked closer. We turned around and went back into the store to hide in an office. That was in December 1975 in Tulsa, OK. I was driving the Simca then too.

got any pics of this simca?

Interesting ... I asked my instructor about taking the test in a stick vs. an auto when we were done. He said it's no problem, but you instantly fail if you stall the car! Auto for me for the test mellow.gif

Haha simcas are ugly and yes I have seen one.

Simca info and pic on AllPar.com

When I stalled the car, the tester started shuffling some papers, probably to try to get me more flustered. But I got the car restarted and took off correctly from the stop sign.

the only 2 problems i had during my test was i guessed the wrong speed limit cuz the sign was blocked by a tree. (it was 20, i guessed 25 - private school). and i slowed down when pulling into a stripmall cuz the sidwalk was raised up. the instructor told me not to do that cuz if someone was behind me they would hit me if they werent paying attention.. it was gay.

I would have told him that if he wanted to pay for any damage then youd do it his way. My instructor was a Dick, he told me to drive in reverse as fast as i could handle and he would tell me when to stop, so i raped it to almost 40 and had no problem controling it, when he told me to stop, he said i went too fast. and he marked me off, so i made an 88%.
