Yeah, I saw this earlier today. That's pretty much bunk. Does anyone else think it's alittle one sided that a cop who has seen this video and nothing more is qualified to give you a fine for modifying your car. The cop can't change his own oil but he is supposed to know what's modified and what isn't. Exhaust mods are most often illegal because of noise. Most top end exhaust companies do decibel tests to show that they are within legal limits.

this video pissed me off. i fucking hate cops, i had a feeling this was in california before it ever said it. cops should be more worried about v-8's that come with 3 times the horsepower as a full bolt on 4 banger. like i said before i fucking hate cops.

this made me laugh ..quote from that link:

The noise produced by a Jake Brake is an acoustical nightmare for people who live near highways or truck routes

HOly shit you gotta be kidding? that is the lamest, most prejudicial video i have seen. most production cars now come with altezza style tails, as well as stainless steel exhaust tips. His freakin muffler wasnt even a melon launcher. So your telling me that the cop checked his hood because he had nice wheels and altezzas? i would tell the cop to shove it. god im glad cops around here are not like that

and i had no idea that some of that shit is illegal. is all of that illegal here too?

Neither Kansas nor Missouri has emissions. You have to realize, California is so strict with their emissions laws, that your car is automatically denied a passing sticker if you remove your stock catilytic converter. Nevermind if you move it three inches downstream, then add another 18 of them inline, if the stock cat isn't in the stock place, your car is not road worthy. Period.

ya the fusion has all white tail lights with red bulbs...

cops aren't mechanics...but if we use that against them, everyone car would get towed for inspection.

that california thing isn't nessecarily true, my friends civic, same year as the video had a full exhuast system on it with one cat in the exhuast. he passed his emissions test with flying colors. it depends on where you get it done. most places won't do anything about it if your car passes. he did have to replace an oxygen sensor in the car though before they would give him his inspection tag.

cali emissions states that ANY aftermarket product put on a car, must be CARB approved. So his exhaust must have been illegal. If he did pass emissions..thats a added bonus, but the shop did it unlawfully. From my understanding there is so many shop that dont check for carb stuff and shops that do it under the table its not hard to get around, but once pulled over its a diff story.

My car wont pass inspection here, I do mine under the table ninja.gif
Sully
I know mine wouldn't pass emissions.

not to thread jack but how much do you think a shop would charge to put a muffler back on my car?

It will pass emissions without it. Your vehicle has an "exhaust-noise muffler" installed ... about midway through the piping. Look at the little resonator. :)
arden
yeah but i need a removable muffler so i can do the crown races... they dont allow loud cars
