Can anyone tell me if these are any good? Or would i be wasting my money getting them.
and if you would buy one which one would it be
CJW
edited the list to add another option...

All of those intakes are the exact same thing just worded differently. You would be better off getting something else. With airflow you want the least amount of bends as possible and you want them to be as long and gradual as possible. That has 2 almost 90 degree bends...what it does is it creates a secondary airflow in the air stream. Instead of going forward it goes ina circular pattern like it is trapped in a pocket. The pattern effectly slows down the main air flow. You can never really get rid of secondary airflow but the least possible the better.

There is another one on ebay as well that goes for about 40 if you are looking for cheap. The other one is decent. Bryan has the bomz intake you have posted and he is looking for another one.

***I have had all intakes for the zx2...besides the bomz/weapon-r and the K&N. I saw no need in owning those because of the bends. And I have had over 20 different configurations with the intakes I have had. I just get bored sometimes and intakes are fairly cheap if you get them used...and if you go as far as I have, they pay for themselves because you clean them up and sell them for more. 8)

Ok so look for one with the least amount of tight angles. Ok cool. Thanks for all the help!!
CJW
yep no problem. I personally like the Hotshot, CTA, and the Iceman(of the ones you can still buy) Not a big fan of the rest.

Is this the one you were talking about.
91TSi
Bah, you guys and you're intakes.... I swear. J/K Josh laugh.gif
CJW
yea dude thats the one I was talking about. Just dont get the one with the "cold air elbow"...it does not make it cold air and it actually is worse. If you do want it cut a huge hole in your fender so that is actually good. If you dont cut a hole and put it down there it is still not getting cold or fresh air...so yea.
GMKLR
Ok i get it know. I never thought intakes were so tedious
CJW
hahaha. They aren't but some suck. laugh.gif
GMKLR
I guess but it makes me wonder how much of a pain everything else is gonna be. laugh.gif
CJW
Nah intakes are easy.

If you dont want to spend much money just get a piece of 2.5" exhaust pipe with a flared end and put it where that hunk of plastic is towards the TB and remove the milk gallon under your airbox. It is good for people with little mods. will agin you a horse or 2
GMKLR
Cool. Thanks for all the help on this!!

I say forget all that you have, and pick #4...or 5 or whatever number you're on

supposedly this one works with minor modifications

well i will vouch for weapon R, i noticed a nice gain in mid range power and a small gain in low range. My car really kicks ass from about 20-60 mph, and its really fun to drive now, plus it even has a nice deeper engine note too! Obviously low range power is always doomed for an atx, but the intake is very nice. I am looking into getting an iceman or hotshot, just to try out the pipe with less bends, but i cant really imagine that the difference will be that dramatic, we are only talking a pony difference at the most i bet. So in my opinion almost any intake will do, anything is better than stock, and its mostly for looks and to help the engine breathe better. Pick which one you want and can afford!

It's only mostly for looks until you get your status to higher than 120 whp. Once that happens you will see drastic differences from intake to intake. If you plan for big mods like I have in my garage waiting to go on the bomz/weapon-r is not the correct intake for you. If you are just stopping after an intake and a catback or so then it should be fine.

But I had the bomz for all of a half hour it sucked ass compared to the others...the gain difference is minimal...HOWEVER the loss in the lowend from a good one to the bomz was VERY noticeable. Gaining is one thing, losing is another. I cant stand to lose power on an already slow car.

i guess i would be wrong saying this but i thought our car came with like 130 Hp stock...

Of course i would love to have the technical know how to mod the engine and do all the stuff everyone else is doing but i just simply have no clue, and since i paid a nice extra 2500 for an extended warantee, i would like to wait until after it expires before i void it...

You'll come to regret that. :)

Most things on the ZX2 can be fixed very quickly, and for just a few dollars. Plus you get to mod. I had zero warranty on my car when it hit 18,500 miles. :)
arden
well i think i have thrown out the idea of something breaking. i would rather mod than have a slow stock zx2. I am looking into getting a CTA, hotshot, or iceman intake. Hopefully i will notice something more. And CJW, if i plan to turbo my car, which intake would be the best?
insta
Not to offend, arden, but if you're asking a question like that you're probably best building N/A for awhile. :)
arden
which question? no offense taken, but yes i still have a lot to learn. but thats what we are all here for.
CJW
No intake will work on a turbo setup. As it moves the connection point.

YOu also cannot use a header like kamikaze or hotshot
arden
*just learned something*

Me too, man. Me too... :(

None of us knew squat before we really took an effort to learn. Pick something you want to learn about, ask on here, and chances are you can meet up with someone who knows a fair amount about it, and they'll show you the ropes.

True that. Everything I know came from just talkin and doin shit with people who knew how. That and just tearin stuff apart in a desperate effort to figure out how it went back together. Always ended up with spare parts though.... I guess that means I did something right.

If you can reassemble something and have bolts left over, that doesn't mean you reassembled it wrong. It means you improved its efficency.

F-in A bro. I knew I was good.
arden
LMAO. i suppose you can look at it that way :P

and as far as learning, thats why i am getting a salvaged engine, and doing this turbo/engine upgrade project, so i can learn something by hands on experience. I am just asking for opinions and advice concerning certain things, and thats why i am asking experts, some off this forum, and the TeamZx2 forums, who know what they talk about. Everyone starts out clueless.

off topic, but i learned how to drive a mtx today!!! didnt kill it once!!! it was a little honda CRX... definite ricer
