kottonmouthkings69
i am assuming yur wanting them done in a zx2 i just did zx2uners its simple
b-rad
I assumed it's not too complicated, however I don't know how exactly to check for clearance....and then regarding the buckets, I was told that I may have to replace a few however would not know how to tell whether I would or not...and third, I don't know how to use a emery cloth to dial the cams to spec.....
kottonmouthkings69
on the s/r i did i just marked them and put them back where they came if u didnt i know of a shop that can do all the different shim clearences for a decent price, emerey cloth jusy use light grade and run it over real quick and in a chiltons manual it shows them aligning with a piece of angle steel
b-rad
so you know a shop that can install the cams for me?? b/c I was told it'd be a little tricky since of course they're not stock cams, lol.

zx2 (99's and up) have shimless buckets, you can not shim (or not suppose to say, in your case) zetec solid buckets.

yea I know that I have shimless buckets...but still I do not know how to put them in and need to pay someone who knows what they're doing

In my case? well i might be wrong but im sure that i have built a ZETEC motor already and if u take apart ane of the buckets on a 00 it has shims. I can get pics and show you it has to have shims or it will be a loud ass fukin motor since the clearences are all different

And in your case-
Ok so whats the problem if there shimless then they can go anywhere.
So therefore just put them in and then put the cams in its pretty simple .
How hard is that? the stupid ass vct is easy to get on and off and it just bolts on.
Any shop will do cam install but there gonna rape you on prices.

I can tell this is going to turn into a big arguement but all the zetec motors in zx2's have shimless buckets. And all the buckets are NOT the same. Each may be different and have different clearances. You need to retain certain tolerances when installing your aftermarket cams brad, you will be able to keep some of your buckets and move them around to make these clearances work, but you will have to buy a few, maybe most of your buckets from some place like zxtuner.com . They sell the lightweight aluminum buckets of all different sizes. You need to take your car to a shop, have them set your cams on your stock buckets and they can measure differences with a micrometer and tell you have much higher/lower certain buckets need to be. Since you have some extra money (i think) , have the shop tell you what sizes you need and where they go, order all 16 lightweight buckets (to keep things equal and to make your valve train just a bit lighter) then go back and insert each bucket where its supposed to go, set the cams in there and lock/bolt them down, double check to make sure all the clearances are still within tolerances, do your timing, tuning, then tear up the streets!

hmm I've heard of the lightweight buckets....I was told that I may need a few new buckets...but regarding the zxtunter buckets I thought they were sold out, however I better double check....anyways, does anyone have any clue what shop I could take my car to, to have the work done??

kottonmouthkings69
not sure at mc racing but chong at revline he is pretty reasonable i know his tuning is 150-175 an hour
