you could try a very fine sand paper but the powder coaters will sand blast them and fix most all imperfections

do you know of a place nearby and cheap?
arden
Apr 11 2006, 12:32 AM
well its not exactly "nearby". its in olathe, but they are cheap and do great work. Rich (screethoprez), josh and myself have all had work done there. we all recommend them.

I'm getting my valve cover powdercoated today. it's being done by a paintball shop in richmond but they do all kinds of powdercoating. I'm getting it blasted/coated for a little less than 50.

okay, kind of off subject. Where is the cheapest place to get a new gasket for the valve cover? or did you just use your old one?
arden
Apr 24 2006, 10:13 AM
i have used my old one on two swaps now. its not leaking (yet) but i have always been told to buy a new one. im going to ford today to order some parts, ill check the price on the gasket, autozone has them for about $40 but thats including shipping because they dont carry them in stock
jdrzx2
Apr 24 2006, 01:06 PM
ford carries them for about 14 bucks, i have a new one on my car. i buy all my gaskets from ford and i have never had any problems with the price or the quality.

They can do whole car frames and trailers. However, there are some things they won't do, such as engine blocks. They didn't want to do my block.

I don't know the address, but they're in the book. RMI (Roger's Manufacturing) Powdercoating. They're about a mile West of I35 on Santa Fe in Olathe.

Nah, they said it was just too much hassle for them to want to mess with. So I took it up to Liquid Finishes and Powdercoating.

i keep having problems with RMI these days, with my wheels, they said i would get them back in three days. i got two of them back in three days the other got finished two weeks later. they came back to me messed up. i returned them, told them they needed fixed or i wanted a new set. they have had the wheels for two weeks and haven't done anything with them.

Jul 23 2006, 09:56 AM
sounds like you rushed them and that made them do the wheels to fast.

Jul 23 2006, 03:35 PM
so what do you think the odds of them doing a motorcycle engine are? It's a twin
jdrzx2
Jul 26 2006, 06:09 PM
i didn't rush them, i asked if they could be done within 5 bussines days and they finished them in 3. somebody was being ignorant and dropped my other two wheels or did something to the cap post that won't allow me to screw the cap back on. there's nothing wrong with the paint, the wheel is physically damaged. i asked them to take all the time they needed, kyle was with me when i dropped them off.
arden
Jul 27 2006, 12:52 AM
yeah someone just dropped them, not really from being rushed or anything. i will be taking some more parts out there soon to be powdercoated
