What for subwoofers are you guys running?
I have had (3) 10 inch logic subs and 2000 watts(so it said) powering it. Also a slew of audiobahn subs ranging from 8 inch to 15 inch. And amps from a mono 1000watt to my 4 channel 2000 watt and pretty much everything in between.
Up until now I have always had a banging system. I do not want a thumper anymore. I now have a 400watt(supposedly) amp. I went sub shopping the other week and was looking at a single 10 inch to get. I came down to either an Infinity Reference or an Alpine Type S. Does anybody have experience with these?
I personally like the way both sound. Crisp, Clear, Not too awful loud, and in my price range...Free to 80 bucks.
Also if anybody has any good cheap opinions on amps I may get a new one of those as well. My current one is a Boss Chaos 400 watt 2 channel. If I were to guess it is probably putting out a max of 100watt(if that). Like I said before I do not want a banger. Just one with nice sound clarity.
And it would be nice if all things were not heavy. My old 10s weighed in at about 15lbs each and then a heavy box and all. My box that my next 10 will be going into is going to made of fiberglass and is already being made now.
Thanks guys. Sorry for the long post

Don't worry about post length man. We've got a long way to go before that's a problem.
I'm running two Alpine Type-R 10" in a sealed box, on a Rockford-Fosgate 500w (250x2) amp, with 8ga power to it. It's in the trunk.
With the seats down, it's almost painful to be in the car with it. It definately took some tuning to get it right, but it's louder than hell now. When I turn it down, it sounds great.

I have has 2-12" JBL GT1000's First I ran a Lanzar 1000 watt amp to it. Didnt do it justice. i was about to sell the subs, but then i came acrossed a Rockford Fosegat 500 Mono Class D amp, wired it up and im loving every bit of my subs. I have had so many compliments on them, clean crisp, pounding. With before having 2-12" Audio bahns, these are mutch louder!! plus I have 2-6.5" Component sytem in the from with mid woofer, tweeter and X over powered by an Kicker amp. and 2- 5x7 Pioneer 2 ways in the rear.

Nice I heard the type-r's. They can be very loud. The type-s is more mellow and subtle. I think it will be the one I go with.

get one 15 inch w-7, guy in my training class had one, it would literally make the trunk lid hop a 1/2 -1 inch . It was so loud it was vibrating all my mirrors, my windows, everything and everyone elses stuff at the light.

Yea it was either infinty 10" or an alipne type-s 10"
I liked the way both sounded. I think the alpine could be pushed real ahrd tho when I would want bass. But the infinity had really nice clarity. And they are both about the same price.

My friend has 1 - 12" Rockford HE-2 w/ a 900 watt amp. It hits really hard! The problem is that they don't make them anymore so if you want one it has to be used... :?
Actually have it all mapped out now. Infinity Reference 6 1/2s, Inifinity Reference 6x8s, Inifinity 1232 12" 4ohm dvc(running it at 2ohm load) sub rated at 300watts rms, Hifonics Brutus bx605 rated at 300 watts rms at 2ohm load.
Should sound nice.
Sub will be in a sealed box for the time being until I have the time to do the fiberglass box I want(a few months maybe)
