yes but I can't find a block/crank so I had planned on just using the one in the car. I could always go get one from the junkyard I guess.

I have a engine stand also, I'll bring it over with all my stuff when we get the ball rolling.
inis
Ok now I have a frim (ford racing intake mani) http://www.pumaspeed.co.uk/showdetails.php?id=492 , sorry best pic I could find.

left to get before engine build:

machine work
bearings
head (would like a ford racing head, have to see after next paycheck..what I can afford)
main caps (holds the crank on) although I'm considering using stocks..since theres no truth to the stockers actaully breaking.
inis
I'm ordering a str fuel rail here soon. What color should I get? blue or silver (there anodized)

I'm thinking blue, cause I'll probally have my s/r cam cover on. But silver will look so clean.
CJW
blue
inis
ok so FRIM is in, cgi is on its way. .... left to order:

focus power main caps, or pro-gram (i hear FP is stronger, but also cost 100 more)
some sort of head, if can't find/afford I'll use the stock head to just get her running next year
Misc megasquirt parts
STR fuel rail
2.5 ic piping
misc rubber reinforced elbows
Fuel lines
need a 90's escort fuel pump to cross modify with zx2's

wideband/gauge
tial 50mm bov

this list never ends

now im debating since i have a cgi block wether to go bigger wastegate, does anyone know what a 38mm external is good for, I'm looking at tial 44mm v-band its about a 100 more and I can sale mine for about what its worth considering its authentic.

Also debating wether to v-band flange the IC piping except for front of tranny and front of engine, for flex.
CJW
Bigger opening == more flow == mo powa

You still got that wastegate for my setup? I'd buy that to finish it off. And yea...still working on getting my friends truck. I wish I owned a truck

i don't know much about the vbands...so i cant comment
inis
Ok, so the block should be here soon. I have a guy in SC (turbo tom) that can bore my block, put billet main caps and line hone the main caps for me for 650 (the caps themselves are 350) , but I have to pay shipping of the block also.

Does anyone have someone local that can bore the block and line hone the caps for less then 400 ?
He also uses heated oil (not sure how new of tech this is) when boring the block to simulate a heated running engine. He can also put a deck plate on it for free when boring , if I request it.
Sounds like a good deal to me, but I dont like shipping shit.

Whats everyones opinion?
MyNeonSaysHi
I won't do it. Shipping such a big item like that is a PITA. Plus there is a chance it could get damaged when shipped back and forth. I say keep it local.

I agree. Not to mention I have heard more good about turbo tom than bad but the bad I have heard was catastrophic bad. Like unrepairable bad. Damn shame to see a cgi fully built incorrectly and it blows.

Again, I take the bad with a grain of salt because of all the good I have heard but still.

And the shipping as stated severely increases the chances of "issues" or "whoopsies"
inis
I've horrid stuff on his heads before and shipping...but nothing lately.

I really hate to ship it, rather do it local and be able to check up on it. Plus is a 1,000 block ...not fun sending over a grand in parts to someone, plus money.

hmmm
MyNeonSaysHi
If I had over a $k in the block I wouldn't do it. Its up to you man. See if he has any sort of guarentee, that would make me feel better...

Yea but a guarantee from a guy who is going to rip you off really doesn't mean much.

Again, not saying he is going to but hypothetically speaking.

It's a gamble man. I wouldn't do it. I'd ask around to local dyno shops and see who they suggest and go there. If you want a ported head I'd just pick up a stocker and send it to JohnP.
inis
only a small bit worried, no cgi block, no reply :(
CJW
ahh geez
inis
ya , he's the same guy I bought my pistons/rods from... so he's been good to me before. He's also on some contour forums and hasn't posted there so I'm thinking he's gone for holiday stuff. I'm going to dyno my car here soon, either the 12th or the 19th ...in "as is" form.
CJW
cool good luck. With dyno and block that is.
inis
I called just a min ago for pricing, 45 during weekday, 65 weekend, 3 pulls with a/f and printout.

Going to try and go next fri, but I really want to work OT so I might work til like 3pm, then go up there... he said earliest or latest is best during week day.

So anyone guessing what my base line will be ?

I'm guessing: 128whp, 118wtq

more I hope, but doubtful cause it doesn't run to smooth.
CJW
i think your tq will match more. Mine and all zx2s with roughly the same mods do...

your numbers should be about right
inis
for those that want to guess:

stock engine
s/r cwq3
iceman intake with modified lower box
afx UDP
fidanza flywheel
spec 2+ with lightened pressure plate
modified cat
stock s/r exhaust
accel coil and ford racing wires (as if it matters)
18's
no a/c
no p/s
only crank, alt and waterpump driven.

and a heavy foot haha
MyNeonSaysHi
Wild guess:

127whp.
ScreetHoPrez
I'm gonna say 120 whp.
b-rad
I'm going to guess 122whp!
inis
I haven't driven the car in month, anyone think I should do spark plugs/oil change ... or just take it in?

When I went around the block last week, it bucked and kicked a bit... maybe I should just pull them to make sure there clean.... and just check the oil level. Dont think theres a point in changing the oil if I'm going to pull the motor soon.
inis
anyone have a FORD mil, I can barrow just for Sat?
CJW
Didn't I send you one like a long time ago? Like I cut it out of my car and sent it to you lol.

Change your oil, check your plugs, make sure everything is good before you go on the dyno
inis
oh ya , its on the car... teehee.gif wonder why I'm throwing a cel then. Maybe I'll stop and get it read.
inis
well, couldn't find an affordable cobalt fuel pressure gauge that was entirely electric and 100 psi , so I got this: http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/serv...42904_-1?CT=999

for 85 brand new in the box , shipped on ebay.
Oh well, maybe later I'll switch... its very expensive to go with all the same model of gauges.

so far I have:
boost gauge/controller (eboost2)
water temp (cobalt , full sweep autometer)
oil temp or pressure can't remember (cobalt , full sweep autometer)
and the fuel pressure gauge.

Gotta get a wideband, and I think I'm done with gauges for now.
CJW
sweet deal
inis
K, I'm off to the dyno. Checked all the fluids, blinkers (which I had to fix) and changed the pcm to cwq3 from mta8 (or whatever you gave me Carl)

Hope dyno goes ok, Dont have a front bumper, and the car looks like shit. Its running pretty decently though.

01cgneon and his badass srt4 is going with me biggrin.gif

Well done vid!

Awesome to see my car in rolling action!
See Jared, your windows are dark as hell. :D

118 hp now, but that won't last. ;)

Had a great time!
inis
had I had fun too. Guess they are kind of dark... hehe

I made a post on a contour forum the guy is where I bought the block, I also tried calling the only number I could find, with that name and the city he's in. No luck so far..
Once the block comes in, I'll probally send it to Rich's napa guy. Still debating heads, will figure that out when I get there... I have alot of work ahead of me.
inis
I got ahold of the guys wife, I talked to her about whats going on. She said she was aware , and knows I have bought stuff before. She said he was out of town and was going to have him call me if possible. She assured me everything was ok, and that it would get mailed out asap.
inis
she called me back after talking to him, it will be mailed friday. Its a big item, and I understand... I've mailed large crap before :)

Kewl man, keep us posted!
MyNeonSaysHi
Great news!!!

I bet you feel weight lifted off of your shoulders.
inis
Ya, I'm very happy now. I was really sweating this. Its also the hold back of the project, so soon as it gets in... off to the machine shop. I do need to order the main caps, but they shouldn't take to long. I'm gonna email the guy tonight or tomorrow to see if there in stock and so forth.
CJW

MyNeonSaysHi
Electric goodies!

Damn you got great deals too!
inis
So after worrying that the block hasn't been shipped , last friday as I was told it would. Today I got an email saying he shipped it and I would have it by the 24th via UPS. He said usps wouldn't take it, was to much weight.

I'm excited, if I do get it thur/fri. The motor in the zx2 is coming out sat, and will go to Rich's guy sometime next week.

I still have to order the main caps, and I will order those thur. Tom is holding a set for me, til I get paid.

yay!

Did you get a tracking number? I hope they guys is telling the truth!
MyNeonSaysHi
Yeah USPS doesn't ship anything big.

If he shipped it out, why hasn't he given you a tracking number? Everything via UPS gives you a tracking number.

He is shipping it in a crate right? Irregulars get tossed around a lot.
