Well, today i sold the Neon after deciding that fixing the damage from the deer was going to be too much. So i sold it today for $1200 cash and then turned around and bought a 1995 Eagle Talon. Drove it around Roeland park and decided i had to have it. Has high mileage but i will rebuild the motor probably this summer so that's not a biggie. 225k confused.gif but like i said going to rebuild it. Doesn't burn oil, appears to be pretty decent shape. However sounds like the idler pulley or tensioner could be going out. Was wondering if i bought the belt kit if someone could help me replace those sometime really soon.

Would anyone be able to give me a hand with changing a timing belt on this thing?

Timing belt, ouch! Never done one before. But plan on doing mine next year.

Have you done one before? If you need help I could try to help out. Its a 95 Talon, and what size engine is in it? 2.0 SOHC or is it a DOHC? I know my car requires a special tool to get the belt off.

2.0L DOHC

I'm pretty sure his motor does too, I remember a neighbor having one, non-turbo and he ended up selling it after he did the timing belt himself.

If its a interference motor, pay someone... that way if it gets fucked up.. it there fault.

If its not, show me some online manauls and I'll see if its something I would want to attempt with you.

Eh, he hasn't installed a timing belt in his talon anyway. The one time it snapped it was towed to a shop where the put a new head and timing belt on. He requested they do it when he had it in a week prior and they said it didn't need it. So they replaced everything a week later due to it breaking.

I've never done a timing belt on a dsm...but i can't imagine it being that difficult. Especially non turbo version
