I don't know how many of you know about The TTP Project, but here it is.
Basically, I have a 1985 Dodge Ram D50 (the miniram). RWD, 1/4ton, general piece of shit. A beater truck, I picked it up for about $300. And, yeah, it looks it.
However, I did some research on it. Turns out, the miniram has the daddy motor of the 4g63 Eclipse motor. Just missing a few things like balancing shafts, and what-not. Still, a 4g63t turbo DOHC head will bolt onto this motor, making the 93hp shitmobile into a 193hp not-so-shitmobile. The kit looks to be about $500, which is one of the pimpest things I've heard of in a long time.
Ashley took it upon herself to spearhead the project. She's learning about things like boost, turbo vs. supercharger, body work, etc. She filled in the rust spots (Brian and I Bondo'ed them once she had the filler metal in place), and so forth.
Pics will follow once it doesn't look like an utter POS.

Hay brother, just let me know if you need any help or want some questions answered about the 4g63. I'd be glad to help in any way that I can.

Chances are I'll now ask you any future questions in this thread. Just to preserve them for posteriety.
I might go get the motor code and have you do a little digging, see what's available.

The truck seems to have a motor that's a step older than the 4g63. I'll find out tonight.

Yeah, it was. And, that was the plan up until we found that the truck shares the same motor as an Eclipse, which is easily modded to high power levels. :)

Just ran the numbers and it looks as though the reason I thought the engine looked fimiliar is because the bottom end is a 6 bolt 4g63. Top end is the g63b 2.0l sohc
You should be able to swap a turbo 6 bolt 4g63 in its place easily. It says the blocks are almost identical. including the crankshaft.
Run a search in google for the 2 formentioned motors

CJW, is a turbo 4G63 motor from a junkyard acceptable? I mean, assuming I can even find one.
Or should I just look for a wrecked Eclipse GS-T?

a junkyard is acceptable. Or you can watch ebay. Or wait for a gst to get hit. Anyway you can get one. Id stick away from the 2 gen eclipses though becasue they had crankwalk issues

WHAT?!?!?! Cheaper... no, More fun... Hell no, and more powerful... not if I'm the one building (helping the building) of the motor.

You are correct, sir! There are some minor modifications in order to make the head work but from what I've read, the swap can be done with little trouble.

Bah to head swap...get whole motor
And ya v8 in that little truck would be not the best. I say a nice light 400 horse 4 cyl and some wieght reduction oughta do just fine... Oh did I mention the 10" wide slicks you should be running
Bryan if you can grab the whole from end of a wrecked turbo dsm. So you can get everything. Harness, comp, misc plugs, motor of course, and other random necessaries
