I'm sure everybody has their own opinion on this, but what's the best way to clean a throttle body?

either tb cleaner or brake kleen and rags. i use brake kleen, well on the ones that it wont damage. i wouldnt use it on one with alot of electronics. i would use the electronic safe tb cleaner stuff, same company as brake kleen, you can get it at advanced auto or orielly's. just spray the stuff on and let it penetrate and wipe it off. to get most of the grime and stuff when i clean stuff up is just use a small tooth brush sized wire brush and get as much of the grime and build up as loose as you can then spray it liberally. if anything remains rub it with the rag to get it dry and keep trying with the brush till you get it and once it all looks clean just give it a good spray down and let it dry.

why do you need to clean a throttle body, you shouldn't have to. At most it will collect a layer of dust. Just wipe it out .

actually it depends on what engine it is. i have cleaned a lot of tb that had carbon build up. some that were even still moist from the fuel. some engines just get really dirty.

Your talking about a TB with a injector in it, Chevy did this on alot of products.

I doubt he's talking about this, if you have carbon build up on a tb...you got something wrong.

yes, thats usually a sign. but hey we just cleaned and showed customers and most of them didnt care. and i did this almost daily at jiffy, valoline, ford. yes chevy does it alot, but other makes have probs and produce build up. its just gasses and stuff that bypasses the intake valves and makes it back in to the intake. heck both the escorts i have owned had build up. it happines alot on older engines.
