Full Version: Looking To Get A Bigger Tv.

I have a little 15'' HDTV monitor by Polaroid that I bought almost 3 years ago on black Friday. I only play 360 games on it and occasionally a movie. I want to get something a little bit bigger for a good price. I am a total n00b when it comes to how to get that Hi Def signal.

I was focused on buying a monitor. I saw a 22' Samsung monitor that was on sale for a $220 was $350 at best buy. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1190676637815 I was about to snag it but the geek squad guy told me that the DVI port it has is analog and that I won't be able to get a hi def signal out of it. Can you get Hi def signals out of VGA ports? I asked him why the televisions were twice the price in the same size and he said its because they have a built in tuners. I am really not sure how much I want to spend. Under $300 is my goal. Maybe a tad bit over.

Heres one I found quickly searching..

Here are HD 360 VGA cable I bought a while back. But it caused my resolution to go weird and colors not to show up. It totally replaced those colored cables...

VGA can run high resolution, VGA is what your computer uses. VGA is analog though. It's true that TVs are more expensive due to the built in tuner. I know this one will be too expensive for you, but if I were to buy a TV today this would be the one I'd get: http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/Search.do?c....x=0&go.y=0

It's on sale for like $1600, down from $2000. The cool thing is that it's a 120Hz.

A friend of mine is selling a 42" Hitachi plasma for $800 obo.

OR there's these two Samsungs which are smaller versions of the one I posted before, and don't have a tuner because they are monitors.

hitachi plasma's are crap. Ever seen what they do after 2-3 yrs? ya dont wanna know.

That tv you linked Stephen seems pretty decent and has everytyhing you want. Cheapest I can find it online is http://www.consumerdepot.com/products.asp?...;referer=google , see if he'll match that.
MyNeonSaysHi
Not much of a fan of Plasma. I hear about them burning images in the screen. Not sure if they fixed that yet.

Those Samsung monitors are not HD from what I can tell.

As for that link you posted Inis, it was a display model and doesn't come with a remote. And who knows how much shipping is for that. I am gonna give that guy a call about his Vizio, since it does have a built in tuner.

i have a 27" vizio lcd hdtv that i won from the holiday party at work last xmas and love it. it isn't the nicest tv out there, but for as much as i use it, it works great. sam's club sells vizio's pretty cheap. check them out.

Sony Bravia 5... 40 inch.

It's the nicest TV I've seen..hell thats why I bought one.

the DMeX on it is sick too. Hooks into my network for streaming Videos to it, upscales them so they look good.

For real tho, find a Bravia 4 on sale for 1100 and snag it. Nebraska Furn Mart has them. Fucking sweet picture.

You guys are getting out of hand hear! I don't want to spend over $400 on a tv. lol

I jewed that guy selling his 22' Vizio for $275. Its in mint condition and has everything for it. Its not a monitor either.

I checked out costco.com they have some decent deals.
But I am still looking... a 22'' -32'' would be perfect.

I wish I could win a tv.

Edit: Found this on craigslist...
