Full Version: Jiffy Lube Warning
KcTuners > General > The Donut Shop

First off, i know a couple members of this forum have worked at jiffy lube and i am in NO WAY doubting their work and quality they did during their work, but this is a VERY interesting article that may make you think twice about taking you car to not only jiffy lube for repairs, but lots of shops in general. obviously there is more to us doing our own work than just shelling out labor costs...

man its bull shit. i work for jiffy lube and i am unfortunatly working at possibly the only honest one around. we never do that bull shit. if we do a job we do it completly and if we cant, we tell the customer and make recommedations as to what they can do about it. it pisses me off that there are people like this that give a business a bad name.
arden
wow calm down i only didnt mean you did bad work, it was just an interesting study of what they found
street_tuner87
i am not mad at you. i am pissed at the people who dont do their jobs. they give these places bad names and its all because they were, and most likely, always will be lasy.

I'm a Valvoline girl. I bet this happens there too though. It's so easy to get away with.

ya I took melissa's car to vavoline the other day for a oil change, cause I wasn't anywhere near home to do it myself. So first off they try to sell me some BS oil, then when I wouldn't go for it they tried getting me for synethetic..which the car is to high of mileage to swap over... and he tried telling me it wasn't (my ass)
Then after trying to sale me 20 other things, he does what I orginally asked for..then comes in after im waiting..and tryings getting me for more stuff... like I dont know about cars...it was a fun experience..first time for everything..next time I'll go to walmart and spend the extra buck and get the pan and tools needed.

She had a wheel bearing replaced a few months back 600 bucks!
I priced one today cause she needs the other side... 120 and it just bolts in, no hard work... :(
Maybe 2 hrs labor..if that... and most places have air tools....

i am sure that it happens at my location but i damn well try to keep everyone their straight. cause if you going to do a job as one so serious as working on someones car then it involves more than just money it involves their safety. therefore i always make sure the customer knows whats going on an i make sure they arent pressured for anything they truely dont need. and i always do a job right. i wish i could say the same for the oher workers but they are just too many lazy people in the car biz. no one cares anymore. i just want to say i am not rippen on anyone it is just a sore subject cause there are so many people doing the bare min and below people just put us all together.

sounds like you listen to your managers bs a little to much mike, they are told to sell sell sell at jiffy lube. you don't often see good or honest mechanics keeping jobs at jiffy lube and valvoline for to long. all they company cares about is their sales. my manager use to tell us to bs some stuff about oil and what not to get people to spend more money. jiffy lube's oil change is roughly 25 bucks but they want every ticket to leave with at least 60 bucks charged on it. they also do not hire quality people to do the services there. i had people working with me that never had done an oil change before they got to jiffy lube and that is just plain sad.

yeah well my manager is a nice person and he doesnt bs if he doesnt have to. but you know the pressure from the dm about ticket average or his job is kind of convencing. how ever most of the time he is very nice and tells the customer the truth. and no i am not being hoodwinked by the managers. i know what bs they are playing and i am keeping a watch on it. when ever i hear bs i chip in and steer them in the right direction. of course that causes irritation from the mgr but if i dont who is.

heres a good one, they tried selling me coolant. I asked how low it was, he said low..i go well how low? so he goes and checks..and I go with him..and the reserv was empty and part of the radiator..so I asked how much it was...and it was 4 bucks... I said sure..and he asked why I wanted to know so much...I said cause its usaully 5+ a gallon at the auto parts store...

everything else he tried on he failed , me winz

you all are gonna kick out of this....

well since i need money really bad, tomorrow i'm going to fill out an app at jiffy lube and am supposed to get an interview too....the second job is needed to get my stuff fixed right now....
