yes your engine will sieze if the oil is depleted or if the oil has been thermally broken down further than it shouldve been. I strongly suggest everyone invest in synthetic the breakdown is at a much higher temp and lasts much longer. My oil is just as clean as the day I put it in 4,500 miles ago. It could go another 4,500 if I felt like it but I take care of my car....and this is letting it go long to me. Some go up to 9,000 with synthetic.... The filter however should be changed every 3,000 regardless.

I use a full synthetic, changed every 3,000 sometimes sooner if I know I'm not gonna have time to do it at 3,000

yep i need to change my oil. im not even going to say how long its been and i will change to synthetic. but at least its still full and my pistons arent grinding like mr. 2-mo over here :shock:

Or just stop being lazy and change your oil every 3500 miles with synthetic. It's not that expensive or time consuming. I can do a full oil change in 10 mins for $22 in all synthetics including filter. :)

If you've got less than about 50,000 miles ... use 0W-20 Mobil 1. Otherwise, use 5W-30 Mobil 1. Nothing else, no blends.

I dont suggest 0w-20, i've been telling you this forever. Its not the proper weight. Yes you say your car runs better with it, but usaully its followed by, my car doesn't run right. That weight is NOT meant for vct to work proper, also by using 0w-20 you promote additional wear and tear, although you are using a synthetic.

use 5w-30 like the book says.

In 2002 and 2003 (looks like 03 for the zx2) ford started switching all there vehicles to one weight of Oil. Zx2 got 5w 20 on the oil cap, but mobile 1 says to use 0w 20 because they dont make 5 anymore.
Ford was shooting for gas mileage increase on all vehicles plus a easier routine maintance.
Orginal Zetec 10 yrs ago was designed for 10w 30, but since has moved everywhere.
