Are you trying to get us to help you figure out what it was or are you just venting. Either way is cool. If you want us to help diognose the problem, you'll have to give some more info. I was kinda thinking timing belt. Where is it leaking coolant from?
Blue98R/T
Yea it was turboed (not at the moment). I am venting and sort of getting ideas, I am going to try and get in it tonight and look at the problem, if its toast I am going to try and do a SRT swap or just 2.4 swap. mad.gif

Is this the motor that Paul was going to get and build for Godzilla?

Where is it leaking anti-freeze from? What were your revs like when it blew? Head gasket maybe? Will it start at all?

Need more input...
Blue98R/T
Yes this is the one Paul was talking about using. It is leaking from the front left it looks like, will not start at all, cams will not budge! Your more than willing to come by and take a look blush.gif I am crappy when it comes to engine stuff, just the basics.
hotrodjim72
ok was the pop as bang metal type of pop, or balloon type pop? Was there any clanging? What color was the smoke?? Information is important here? What did the temp gauge say?
Blue98R/T
Metal Pop blush.gif Did not hear any clanging, smoke was gray. Anyone (neon or not) that wants to come down and take a look there would be some beer (of your choice) here waiting to tear into this thing!!!!!!!!
I live in Gardner!
Godzilla
Josh, I am no genius but it sounds to me like the water pump locked which threw the timing belt and trashed your valves.
Blue98R/T
I have not taken it apart but it looks as though there is a rather large hole in the front of the block, anyone got one laying around?

Ahhhhhh, you threw a rod. That wasn't as much of a pop then as it was a shotgun blast under your hood.
Godzilla
yeah i have a block or 2 or 5 laying around.

Paul your turbo block is ready!!!

How much do you want for a block....are they complete?

I wouldnt mind doing a 2.4 swap, how much work is involved with this?

91TSi
Put some duct tape on er' and she'll be fine... Those neons are unstopable.
Blue98R/T
HaHa, I am going to get a soldering gun, elmers colored school glue, and some sheetrock puddy and make it work, should add at least 15 HP!
hotrodjim72
Time to buy a Caliber!!
Blue98R/T
The wife and I have thought about trading in the Durango for a Caliber. I am going to rebuild the neon.
inis
wait for the srt4 calibur , its gonna be rockin.. its gonna have alot more power then the current srt4, but i bet it weighs more also. those that are really into modding (im sure there will be someone) can do the fwd to awd swap, since i believe it has that option just not on the srt4 version
Godzilla
Damn, dude, you will need more than a block.

Just what I can see you need block, crank, rods, maybe pistons maybe a new head.
Blue98R/T
I am going to try and get something to pull this motor and see what I need. I may try and do a 2.4.
Blue98R/T
Paul,
Any idea what I am looking at spending here?
