any idea of a price range for a good sct chip? and what all will they need to know when i order mine... i have lots of questions about this topic because its one area i really dont know much about or hear anything about...

what is used to "flash" a chip or pcm
what kind of connection is needed to burn a performance setting to a chip
are the chips re-burnable or do like the 4 burn ones require a replaced chip after you use those 4
any downsides to chippin a pcm
what controller is used to select the chip setting you want to use

A flasher made for the chip is used to flash it. YOu can flash it as many time as you want but can only have 4 programs at a time. It comes with a toggle switch to switch between tunes.

DOnt know what info you need to give them, but I assume everything

Definately have to be lookin into this more, like arden said its one thing I don't know a lot about but am interested in. Wantin to pick one up sooner or later.

well i have been thinking, its probably the most expensive mod i have on my list, and i think maybe getting sooner rather than later would be a good idea... its quite possibly the most important thing to get and all the mods in the world wont be worth much without a good chip...

so let me get this straight, a flasher comes with the chip, 4 tunes max, and the tunes are put on the chip via the flasher... ok so how are the tunes put on the flasher? do they have to be pre made and sent with the chip or can you create tunes at a dyno shop everytime you make upgrades to better the tunes... im clueless :P

theres 4 options for us via sct:

-chip (they burn it for you and mail it off to you)
-excalibur (however the fuck u spell it) , they give you a program, your aloud to do small changes to it, you plug it into the pcm it FLASHES the pcm with the new tune.

-racer package with excalibur , same thing as above but it comes with software and a pc cord to self tune (still FLASHES the pcm)

-Racer package with chip , DOES NOT flash the pcm, but you install chip that override the stock settings. comes with cords and software.

Reg racer package IS the excalibur version, runs around 7xx.xx , the chip version is around 9xx.00 , cheapest I have found it , is through Doug.
