ok, i am thinking about buying the slotted/drilled rotors that are up for sale on the other forum. but before i do, i wanted to know if anyone would be willing to:
1) assist in a rear disc swap sometime in the near future.
2) if there are bigger rotors on some other 4 lug cars that i could use. ours look too small...
3) if someone would help with the new steel brake lines, rotors, and calipers install in a couple weeks when i get them
4) what are the best pads to buy

rotors, slotted/drilled stock rotors are more then enough for our 2400lb beast.
I can assist in all the above, if your willing to buy/supply drinks.
I have slotted/drilled zinc coated rotors on every corner, and ss lines too.
also I suggest a oem replacement pad, other then ceramic (ceramic creates terrible heat)
I do not suggest any other pad, unless you plan to auto-x , there wouldn't be a reason to spend the extra cash, plus they'll tear your rotors up more.

tiny? how big of car do we got? lol
and stick with a oem material brake pad (stock replacement)
only way to get larger rotors is a custom (1200+ dollas) brembo front kit, think wilwood makes one too. and for the rear you can use a miata bbk

alright thanks. i just think the rotors look small in the 17" wheels. unlike cars like corvettes and mustangs that have big brakes... and its not worth it to buy a kit like that

ok time to re-open this topic! i am ordering front and rear rotors and brake lines (hopefully) this week. I now need to know if the rear discs for a 98-03 Z will fit on the donor car, the GT. I didnt know if i needed to order 91-96 rear discs or the 98-03 rear discs... i guess there is a difference, any advice is welcome. i am planning on doing all this work sat afternoon on the 22nd, the day before the last auto x race. Preferably at someones house that has all the necessary tools (inis) and of course i will order pizza/drinks for whoever wants to help. My installs will be as follows:
1) rear disc swap
2) steel brake lines F/R
3) new front calipers
4) new brake pads all around
5) new rotors all around
6) 21 mm ARB
and bryan, i will most definitely be taking one of your GT rear ends for the swap and the 21 mm sway bar, would it be possible to get them sometime in the next week so i can have them powder coated?

I did say that? I don't remember that. :( How about $150 inc. swaybar? I need the money ...
Also, rear rotors for a 95 Escort GT should be fine.

escort gt and s/r rear DISC are the same, the calipers are different so you'll need to order escort GT rear disc pad replacements.
I do have all the tools and can either do it at your place or my moms.
Shouldn't take to long since Bryan has gotten most of the hard work done already.
If you plan on going ground controls or anything more then a eibachi drop, I suggest a 19mm sway bar for a more neurtal car. 21mm makes the rear end come out on most springs. Sticky sticky sticky tires will be need to avoid this, and tires can be more costly then a sway bar swap.

i have a feeling that the sway bar will be the primary means of adjusting the cars handling to different tracks and weather conditions. i will most likely get a 19 and 21 and swap when needed. i plan to do the eibach drop and keep my tires for now... next spring i will come ready with smaller wheels and race tires. ill keep the 17's for show and cruising.
as far as the brakes... i was asking for what year so i know which disc to order, i guess now it doesnt matter if they are all the same, i will just need to get the correct pads to fit. thanks jared. and bryan, do i need to pay you upfront when i pick up the bar and calipers to get painted or can it wait 2 weeks until i get paid? ill even bring the parts back to you after powdercoating
