Ok you ZX2 trivia nerds. My wife called to get insurance on the zx2. They asked her if it was the 'cool' edition or the standard edition. WTF? She gave them the vin and it says its the "cool" edition, What the hell are they talking about? It even says "cool" on my proof of insurance.

cool/hot we're only 98/99's
Sport is on certain years too I believe. I know the 03's didn't get any editions.
s/r , 99 110 made, 00 2000 made
Found for the 1999's
"Then, the ZX2 has those unique trim choices - it can be Cool or Hot. The base ZX2 Cool edition supplies a tachometer in the instrument cluster, AM/FM stereo, bolt-on wheel covers, and the driver's-seat memory for recliner. Other standards at base level include the manual transmission, power steering, split folding rear seatbacks, variable intermittent windshield wipers, twin exterior mirrors with manual controls, a digital clock, and remote decklid release.
The upgraded ZX2 Hot adds air conditioning, an in-dash cassette deck and enhanced audio speakers, power controls for exterior mirrors, a rear-window defroster, and remote keyless-entry system with panic alarm. An optional package of sporty gear for either ZX2 brings a leather-wrapped steering wheel, upgraded seats, fog lamps, a trunk spoiler and 15-inch aluminum wheels.
Prices for ZX2 Cool begins at $11,660, plus $415 for delivery. You can get it Hot if you've got $13,340. "

the options between cool and hot are almost non existant. Throw in some spiral rims and an exhaust tip and you basicly have a hot edition.
my 98 was a hot edition, my insurance didn't even notice a difference..insurance wasn't any diff.

dubs, I think you've contributed less to this thread than anyone.
The 03's kinda just got the leftovers from the bin. I have a mixture of hot and cool parts. Sport didn't add a damn thing to the car except "ZX2" stitching.
No wonder Ford failed with this car

they needed a supercharged option or something.

Show me the SVT ZX2? That's where I said Ford failed ... this car had a lot of potential, and marketing shoved it up their asses and crapped out the "Hot" edition which
upgrades you to air conditioning? Please.

zx2 a/c sucks, but almost any small engines a/c sucks.
I have pics of the svt zx2, i'll find em and post em.

1 canceled before it made production
2 roush, 1 expected to be wrecked, totaled, and smashed. The second is in roush's showroom that you can only look at, not go in.
No pictures or details of the motor in the svt. The only details revieled about the roush is it had a supercharger. Noone knows of the internals or anything else...
BTW the cool came with AC as well. Not sure if it was an added option or not...but mine has it

ZX2 Fusion
Featured Stories
Press Releases
Fusion is an atomic reaction. In more technical terms, fusion is the joining of light atomic nuclei to form a heavier element. The process generates huge quantities of energy -- which pretty much sums up what Ford and Roush Racing have done with their latest compact concept car — the Escort ZX2 Fusion.
Ford’s zoomy 1999 Escort ZX2 makes a perfect starting point for a sport compact car project. Ford designers and the performance experts at Roush Racing joined forces to produce a true performance car that is economical to own and operate.
At the heart of the Fusion is Ford’s feisty 2.0L Zetec DOHC 16-valve four cylinder engine. In stock trim, the Zetec produces 130 horsepower and 127 foot-pounds of torque with exceptional fuel economy thanks to the magic of variable camshaft timing.
Roush wasted little time making the Zetec into a screamer. The factory pistons and rods were replaced with aftermarket performance parts. Next, an SVO cylinder head was added with 2-milimeter larger intake valves for improved flow. The engine breathes easier thanks to a Roush low restriction, high flow air filter and a stainless steel exhaust header with Arvin stainless steel muffler and exhaust tip.
The big boost, though, comes from the addition of an Eaton supercharger with a water-to-air intercooler. Roush accessory drive pulleys are also part of the package, reducing the load on the engine. To protect the high-revving four- cylinder, a larger Griffin radiator replaces the factory unit, and a Roush windage tray in the oil pan ensures the engine will receive a constant supply of oil during high-G cornering maneuvers.
The result of the many performance modifications is an astounding 100- horsepower increase, pumping power output up to 230 horsepower and 200 foot-pounds of torque. To make the most of the additional power, the driveline was upgraded to equal length half shafts. At the other end of the performance spectrum, the Fusion’s front brakes were updated with 13-inch Brembo drilled rotors and four piston aluminum calipers.
ZX2 has a nimble, fun-to drive feel, with sporty handling qualities. Given Fusion’s huge performance boost, however, the design team decided to fine tune the chassis components to match the other performance parameters. First, the ride height was lowered 1-1/2 inches with stiffer Roush springs. Roush X-Sport struts by Bilstein control wheel action. Fusion rolls on Goodyear 215/40R17 F1 performance radials mounted on 17- by 7-inch Prime "Tuner" alloy wheels.
Body modifications include a new chin spoiler, distinctive rocker treatment and unique rear valance by Inform Design. A Roush spoiler graces the rear deck, and the body is finished with a yellow-on-black paint treatment befitting the Fusion’s youthful sport compact car target market.
The inside of Fusion hasn’t been forgotten in the transformation. Up front, you’ll find a pair of deeply bolstered FloFit bucket seats. There is a custom "shorty" shifter for quick gear changes. Roush Racing pedals and supercharger boost gauge complete the racy interior feel. And what would a respectable sport compact be without a quality sound system? Fusion features a Stillwater Designs audio upgrade with Kicker amplifiers, speakers and subwoofers.
Ford’s ZX2 Fusion concept car generates massive amounts of energy from a small but very entertaining package. Who ever said that physics couldn’t be fun? It’s a blast!
