anyone ever had one in there car?
I hear yellow top is the one to go with but there around 140 bucks, red top is around 100 . I'm looking to get one of those and then move the battery to the trunk. I'll probally get a marine box from wal-mart and make up a kit myself, unless someone has a better suggestion.

wouldnt it rune the performance a little to move the power source so far away from the bay. i thought that was why they put the batteries in the bay in the first place. i don't know, just wondering
no it doesnt hurt performance.
And jarred with these you do not need a box. It is a fully sealed battery and will not leak toxic shit into your car. I have not had one but know MANY who do.

Ya because it uses gel, I hear you can pretty much stab them with a knife and not have any issues. Think I'm gonna make my own kit, and just have my dad make me a SS sheet metal tray.

well like he said it wouldn't need a tray or box or whatever so it would only be extra weight probably. thats what i would think anyway.

Optima: BattleBot tested, insta approved.
Those batteries took everything we threw at them and laughed. Be careful about shorting them out, though. A full-sized battery will source over 3,000 amps until it's been drained (and still recover just fine).

then again you will need something to hold them down with so its what ever you want to do.

Just be absolutely positive you have good grounds. Of course I am sure you already know this.

Just to make sure I got this right, when I take the wires from under the hood to the rear of the car...I take negetive to postive, and positive to negitive??

I have the optima yellow top, Ran it in my zx2 when it was n/a, back in late 2005 i took the zx2 down and fully built it. The battery sat for a good year.
Now when i finally got done with the zx2, rechaged the battery with a battery recharger, droped it in the trunk of my car, and left it there. Havnt had a chage problem yet, and its been a good month or 2 now since the battery was put in the car.
DAMN good battery!!!
I relocated it to the trunk.

BTW,
when i relocated the battery, I took the stock power wire from the front, used an am wire kit fuse, then used a 0 gauge wire, ran it to the trunk, same way you would if you were running power wire for an amplifyer. Then i used the trunk hing bolt for a ground. Wokrs perfectly.
