is it possible to paint carbon fiber or is that not a good idea?
venom620
I paint it all the time but the top ply of all our carbon fiber junk is 150 fiberglass, I don't know if that matters any

as far as i know you can paint carbon like any other surface. just lightly sand the clear (i think) , primer and paint, or you may just be able to primer and paint... what is carbon that you are painting?

and why would you want to paint such a sexy material!
venom620
the only thing that I think you would have to watch out for is that if it's a thinner material which I'm sure it is then you're probably gonna want to use a bumper type flexible primer to help keep everything from cracking. But yea definitely just paint it like you would fiberglas or kevlar or any other composite material..... the F-16 uses the same resin on the fiberglass as it does on the carbon fiber..... just don't sand so much that you break strands of the cloth, and you're good

yea if it's a part that will be out in the sun a lot you might as well paint it cause it will fade and look like crap after awhile down.gif
