Borla cat-back exhaust or/ Pacesetter cat-back exhaust?. Which one is better?. I need some feed back. Im looking to buying one "real soon".
Thanks-

here's my .02 but people will prolly disagree...i'd say just get a borla xs muffler...take it to an exhaust shop and have them make you a cat-back, not mandrel bent...and i know it isn't crushed...i can't think of the name of it...but mandrel bent piping isn't worth the money in my opinion...so i'd just get a muffler...then pay an exhaust shop to make you a cat back and install the muffler

The borla catback is just a muffler...Unless from trubendz
The pacesetter needs a flexpipe and a good muffler to be a good system.
I have a pacesetter with a stainless flexpipe, magnaflow cat, and a magnaflow muffler w/ my kami. It sounds good for a 4 cyl. with a full length race header
Oh and mandrel bends are better than that of crush bends or faux mandrel(crush stuffed with sand)...your exhaust is only as good as the smallest point. If you have 4" going to a .5" collector its obviously going to cause problems(for example...way out there I know)
You cannot argue me in saying mandrel is better...and I cant argue you in saying you dont think its worth it. But I will say for the 350 I spent on my exhaust I have mandrel, a cat, a flexpipe, and a good muffler.(pacesetter is mandrel)

All I got to say is do it right the first time, never have to redo it again vs doing it once, then doing it again trying to fix it, or better yet re-doing everything the correct way.

What exhaust you get depends on what kind of header you have. If you've got a stock header, then just keep your stock piping and put a bit of work into it.
If you're getting a header, you'll need to pay a lot of attention to prevent rasp.

I'd say if your gonna get a cat-back go with the borla from trubendz. Just my input.

I like my setup and it suits me well for what I need
The pacesetter has nice bends just a shitty flex section and a shitty muffler
And to get just a borla rear section is to just shoot yourself in the foot. Spending that much on just a muffler would suck
I personally like the trubendz tubing kits as I like to stray from the group and get my own muffler and such with no tip 8)
If I were to do it again Id just get the tubing kit from there and do all the same stuff I did to this one

Yeah don't get just a normal borla catback like I said if thats what your gonna go with get it from trubendz.
But I agree with cjw about bein different and adding your own muffler to stand outside the crowd. Thats what I love about cars is you don't ever have to be mainstream.

Seen dynomax mufflers on some trucks and a couple f-bodies but never a compact. They might sound pretty good... always did on v8s

anything which sounds good on a v8 sounds like shit or hollow on a 4cyl.
My muffler is just a standard 4x6 magnaflow with a 3" aluminzed angle cut pipe welded on for a tip.
Anyone who has really looked at it will tell you it looks half stock. And because the muffler is so small it is a little louder than the typical 5x7 or 6" round magnaflows.

im going with the expensive aeroturbine muffler with my car. i am hoping to just eliminate the cat completely and have the 4-2-1 header to 2.25" pipe to the muffler. but i might have to get a cat, if i do it will be custom. the turbine muffler eliminates ALL rasp on the zx2 and even all rasp on honda's.... expensive but worth it if the rasp is gone

Not all mufflers that are used with v8s will sound bad on a 4cyl or even a v6 for that matter. It's the design type that depicts what car you should use it on. Boral mufflers are used on every type of car and yet they still find home on an zx2. I'm not sayin go rip the muffler off a v8 and slap it on your car... but the same brand can offer you a nice piece for your car as well.

let me put it this way the chambered sounds like shit on the zx2.
Oh and arden have you stood next to a zx2 with 2.5" piping with a resonator and a aero turbine and the stock header??? Ok how can I compare this. Ok you know bryans car and how loud his is when he romps it(forget about rasp right now)...Ok times that by 10 and you have the aero turbine with THE STOCK HEADER AND CAT....I cant imagine it with a header... O_o OMG

it is by far the loudest muffler I have ever heard. it is deep and loud. This guy is in an atx with stock header and cat..and he'd set off car alarms driving by them

oooh dont get me wrong...It is loud as sin BUT it is a good loud. Like a deep. Its not raspy or weedwackerish.
I can see how it would get rid of rasp but it is very very very deep and low and loud.
I was thinking of running one on whatever vehicle I end up running a turbo on. Be it a 240sx, shadow, zx2 whatever...I think it would wake the dead with that setup 8)
But you know just flipping a switch and having a dump open right behind a kami....that'll scare the piss out of big nasty v8 drivers...tehehe

would the dump even be beneficial...
also..on tubing kits...is it better to get aluminized or stainless steel...i mean is the stainless worth the money..or what
Sully
Nov 17 2005, 03:29 AM
If you plan on exposing your car to the elements i.e. daily driver then yeah stainless is deffinately worth the money becuse it solves all rust issues. Aluminized will only last around 3 maybe 4 years... maybe less depends on how much salt etc. its exposed to. If your keepin your car as a daily driver then get stainless or else your just gonna have to end up payin for your exhaust twice.

well i heard the sound clip of the turbine muffler and i really REALLY liked its sound, i just didnt know it was that loud... and i dont want any tickets for exhaust noise, plus i do like to come home late at nite and sneak out and that would basically wake the neighborhood of when i arrive/leave...
