ok so this time the 929 is down and out, for a while at least. it is suckin down gas, seems like it is dragging something, wont accellerate over 40 unless goin down hill. wont go over 70 at all. has no accelleration. i have done cylender leakage test, back pressure test, vacum test, checked the timing. and some other stuff does anyone have an idea of what could be happening? the car has been in the shop for a week now i need help.

Bad gas? Bad plug wires? Does the exhaust smell like unburned gas? (Stuck injector?) Do the spark plugs look OK? Are the plug wires on the right plugs (correct firing order?). Air filter OK?

Does it backfire?

Timing belt?

Checked for coolant in the oil?
Matt
yeah i would say check the timing belt i know are cars are nothing alike but that is exactly what my car did before i broke down on I-70 i shot the timing belt clear out of the car nothing left of time you might be missing some teeth so take it off and at least check it cant hurt!

dont knoe if its the gas, wires look fine, havent really snifed the exhaust recently :), havent checked injectors yet, spark plugs are reletively new and look fine, fireing order is fine, air filter is great, self made custom set up with K&N, it works fine, doesnt back fire, belt looks fine just needs to be replaced soon, no coolent in oil, but there is an oily substance in the coolent resevoir. but we dont thin its a head anymore.

run seafoam and chevron techron through your system. that tends to fix all sorts of things.

if not, maybe your motor is going bad? my grand am did the same thing before it died. it ate gas SUPER bad, like a few miles to the gallon...you could smell burning oil/fuel heavily when following the car and the car had absolutely no power, could hardly muster 55 to do hwy speeds

i keep getting a code for the crankshaft position sensor but it doesnt say which one, and if thats was the problem would the car not even turn over? as of today the car is starting to not even run with out manually keeping the throttle open.
arden
you should only have one crank position sensor... at least our zetec only has one... i guess with your car having high mileage it could be starting to have crank walk and has broken the sensor

my car has two sensors, one below the underdrive pully and one made in the distributor.

and no thats not the crank sensor i have looked it up and the KTC has more stuff than a dealer. it has two.
