alright, I CALL DIBS ON THIS!!! But first i have some questions. firstly, the auction says its for a Zx3, NOT a zx2, but its the same engine, the zetec 2.0 . Is the intake manifold and TB the same for both? I know this is a good buy but i need to know if it will bolt right up!

and lastly, will the focus connecting rods fit our motor? below is the linky to some forged rods i am looking at:

Ok I thought you were talking about the focus head. Didnt have time to read very much. There is very little reason to swap to a focus manifold other than the ford racing one. Simply for the reason their manifold doesnt flow any better than ours and their TB although it is bigger at the top the butterfly section isnt really any bigger than ours. You will not see any real gain with this over a ported zx2 manifold.
As for the rods yea you can get them any time at that price. No biggie
Ill reply now with your head project...peace

sooo. the intake mani's are different then i assume. ok well sounds like the focus head is a sure must and i plan on aggressive cams and new cam gears anyways, PLUS i have always wanted an alumnimum valve cover!!! YAYAYA! :D

will i be able to use a zx2 intake and exhaust manifold with the focus head? and what about the fuel rail? i am going to build a race engine this winter and install it in the spring. i have my eye on a race fuel rail thats cheap but i dunno if it will fit... i basically need to know what parts will HAVE to come from a focus and what parts i can continue to pull from zx2's... i have heard that most parts are interchangable between the two but i want to make sure before i make these purchases :D
oh and godzilla, i assume you wont mind me storing my race engine in your garage for the winter? and where is a good place to get things PnP'd around here

your intake mani and exhaust will work fine with a focus head, you'll need a chip to run a focus head. Your fuel rail is bolted to your intake manifold, no mods needed there.
Jarred
If it is a focus fuel rail you will need to do modification to everything to hook it up right. Id stick with your stock rail and zx2 mani or get a rail custom made for the zx2 specifically.
And P.S. all the zx2 valve covers are aluminum as well...Ive polished both to a bright shiny aluminum.

yeah they are alumimum undneath the plastic i guess...
and the fuel rail is said to be for both the zx2 and zx3... the guy makes them or something so they go on ebay every week... but i would like an upgraded rail because my engine is going to (hopefully) be pushing some big numbers come spring and MAYBE have a turbo on it, so it will need good fuel flow and what better to have than a better rail with the bigger injectors
take a look

Our gas inlet is on the right. Theirs is on the left if I remember correctly. And there is quite a bit of fiddling which needs done to make it work.
Ask jarred he has one on his fr mani

Noland Cylinder Head Service 816-471-5167 in downtown KC at 1519 Charlotte. They can do anything and everything to your cylinder head. I had a stock Miata head done there, another Miata buddy had a custom, max PnP done there. We're both happy.

as much as I hear good stuff about them, when I called them they do not do pnp, they sub contract out to one of there employees, and he does it at home . (me don't likey that) , and two they are kinda expensive for not knowing the zetec head.

They quoted me 850ish bucks for larger valve seats, fitting of the new valves and guides, plaining of the head, cleaning of the combustion chamber, pnp the head, and bead blasting my intake mani and port matching it to the best they can (exactly what they said, sounded more like they thought they couldn't do it), and then also they we're going to look at my tb and clean it up some because I had pnp'd it myself.
This included no flow matching or anything! they wanted more money for that! a grand for headwork was kinda rediculous to me, especially since they've never touched a zx2 head, and only a focus one once. I could see a grand if they we're supply the valves...

wow that is expensive. i think johnp does the same for half the price and he is the best there is. plus he flow matches everything!
back on topic, my ebay finds. yeah, they happened to end last night during the party i went to. i forgot to make a final bid on the arp bolts and the focus head.
the arp bolts (for the connecting rods) went for 10 bucks. only 1 bid, I WAS PISSED. cuz they go for 60 on zxtuner.
but the head pissed me off the most. my bid was 52.00, it sold for 53.00 . SOOOO, im still waiting to start my engine project.
and that auction for 2 cam gears ended up selling for 112.50 . my final bid was 110. i didnt follow that one to the deadline either.... im so unlucky, those were all STEALS

i saw those... but are they even any good? they seem too cheap to be of any substantial quality
Yea they are MAC. MAC is a very good company. He so happened to buy the rest of the ones they'll ever be making...SO he is discounting them huge.
I am picking up a set myself. Warning you do need to drill out the exhaust one to fit the exhaust cam
