Ok, this is basically to straighten out all my questions about the compatibility between the focus: intake manifold, throttle body, and head to the Zx2 (escort) standard parts. I have some options of how i want to do my intake system, they are listed below:

SVT 65mm TB -> Zx2 intake manifold -> Zx2 Head

SVT 65mm TB -> Focus Intake manifold -> focus head

SVT 65mm TB -> Zx2 intake mani -> focus head

SVT 65mm TB -> focus intake mani -> Zx2 Head


Also keep in mind that i want to totally build up the engine, both bottom and top end. I am going for a turbo project here, so 9:1 pistons, forged connecting rods, ARP bolts ect. The head will be PnP'd as well as the TB and intake mani. Cams, cam gears, valves, valve springs ect for the head will be upgraded as well. SCT will be used for tuning once everything is running.

Now my questions:

if i use the focus head, will the usual zx2 headers still fit?
what combo will bring the best results?
does the 65mm SVT TB bolt right up to the focus intake mani?
list anything i may not have thought of, and argue amongst yourselves :P

If money isnt a problem your best bet would be to go with a FR intake manifold with a 70mm mustang TB like inis has. One a focus head p-n-p with some high rev/race cams in it. Intake would have to be 3"

There is no point to the foucs intake manifold because it would be a waste of money for a no hp gain. Ford racing is a different story. SVT mani would be good but it would be a pain in the ass to hook up cuz it is chambered and controlled by vaccuum and such...not worth the time and effort.

SVT TB is different. No idea if it hooks up or not. I would venture to say no because the intake mani is COMPLETELY different

i will look into getting a ford racing intake mani.

as for the 65mm TB, a lot of guys are talking about them on "the other site" . some minor modifications need to be made but they claim they fit and work fine. i dont think it would be any more of a hassle for the SVT TB than the mustang, cept the mustang is bigger :twisted:
