Ok... about two weeks ago, my car started making a weird rattling noise whenever I am idling. It sounds like it's coming from my header... but I have no idea. Once I rev above 1000 rpm it stops. Anyone have a clue?
arden
probably your wheel falling off because of those washers as spacers
street_tuner87
well obviously something is loose that only shakes at a low rpm. don't know much else, what kind of a car is it? have you checked all the conections to everything, it might be that over time something has loosened itself. sorry i'm not much help but that is what i would do check everything to make sure every thing is tightened.
Sully
You still got stock exhaust?? Check around the hangers and what not make sure your not gettin vibration from there... I do at real low rpms, not idle, but if it stalls I can hear it.

I get this weird rattle too, starts around 700rpm's , ends right around 7300

Yeah I should probably get some real wheel spacers. Not to get off topic but when I had my wheels on the first day, all the lugs on the front left wheel came loose and one fell out on my way home to tighten them. It was pretty scary b/c I could see my wheel going back and forth while driving... Thank God I was only about 2 minutes away from my house and not on the highway or something.

And my exhaust is all stock back to the glasspack. And street_tuner87, I have a '99 Zx2.

 ya i see that now. sorry

Well in your absence I've aquired two sets of wheel spacers, brand new untouched let me know if your interested, bought em but then didn't need em.

back to the ratlle:

Does your exhaust have any heat shields? Maybe a shield has popped a rivet somewhere.

Idk... How would I go about finding that. And Sully, how much for the wheel spacers?

zx2/escort/protege/mx3 etc etc heat shields are held on by 10mm bolts. The shield itself is very bendable.

I suggest getting the car up higher, and starting it and letting it idle to find the noise. Please do this with a friend as it is unsafe at any condition to be browsing underneath a running vehicle.

That seems like something I can handle. I'll do it this weekend and let you guys and girl know of any further developments. That is of course if none of you kind souls want to come to my house and do it for me...

This is a long time from now, but If I still have my wheels come spring and you still have the spacers I'll buy 'em.
