Alright so, i have a system. Two 12's a 800w amp. Some interior lights. And my underglow. And ever sense ive had all of this hooked up. Ive noticed like my car idleing weird, and when my car is in park and i push down the pedle a little bit and the rpm's go up my all of my lights get brighter. Like interior lights, head lights, and my gauge lights. Im not to for shore what this is problem is. Maybe someone can help me out and give me some advice?. thanks-

Lemme guess, when the bass hits in your car, the lights dim too?

Yes sir it does...

maybe you need an ODP to make more power for your stuff...
redbeardracer
Alternators don't generate maximum power at idle, or below 1500 to 2000 rpms.

Do you have caps to help your amps? That may help. (Capacitors to help during maximum current draw when your subs hit?)

Can you find a higher output alternator for your model car? But still, that won't necessarily help at idle.

....

Wait a minute. Why am I helping here? I'm an old fart and I don't like loud thumping cars that you can even hear the body parts rattling on.

damn

When I added an UDP, I had a serious voltage problem. I added an alternator ODP and made a huge difference. I would suggest doing this as well.

 i bumped up my alt and added 4 caps...so i know how you feel.but i also have 3 12s,4 6.5,4 tweeters and 2 amps at 1800 watts. 8)

You could always add a second alternator, but that may be overkill. In my SPL truck, I had 4 18" Rockfords and about 10,000 total watts. I had custom brackets made and put a second built alternator with an external regulator and potentiometer mounted in my dash so I could control the voltage manually (i.e. 14.2 volts for normal driving and then crank it up to 16.1 volts for competition).

Like I said, that may be a little overkill for ya'.

I have the same problem just w/ my system on. 2 12" subs rated @ 1000 watts MAX w/ 2 amps rated @ 1000 watts max. Then replaced all speakers w/ kickers and have those powered w/ a 560w MAX amp. I have 2 1.0F capacitors also and they helped A LOT but not enough. If I sit at a light long enough w/ the system cranked, and then tap the gas pedal, I get a slight nock cause the idle is dropping guessing from not enough spark or something.

I am planning on getting a "rebuilt" alternator rated at 200 amps. you can get them @ http://www.4alterstart.com/

Does anyone know which OEM higher-output alternators will directly swap into a ZX2 and still retain the original belt routing path? I've heard something about a Ranger alternator, but I don't know the specs.
