What does everyone have planned for their car this winter? If things pan out I should be driving a turbo'd nitrous'd Neon R/T

I just bought a programmer for the zx2
And I have a TWM short shifter on order. As well as everything needed to do both cam gears on my car disabling VCT.
Ill be on the dyno next tuesday testing my maf/airbox project vs. stock. <that ones for business reasons...Ill be selling them as soon as I have the dyno sheets.
things to be installed this winter:
rear brake lines, front drilled rotors, and axxis pads
spring:
cam gears, eibachs, tokicos, 19mm swaybar, ES bushing kit, strut bar, custom valve cover and spark plug cover, dyno tuning, full interior and random exterior revamping

Install a folding ladder that Santa is bringing me so I can more easily put stuff in the garage attic. (Too many piles of DSM parts I can't seem to sell.)
Drop in a replacement 4g63 into the 92 Talon for daughter #2's daily driver. (It should be arriving later this week or early next week.)
Replace the clutch in the Miata. (Stock clutch) Change all hydralic fluids, and it may need new brake pads after all the track and autox "abuse" in '05.
99 Avenger needs all fluids changed. (Brake, tranny, coolant, blinker)
Not sure what all will be done to the 2000 Intrepid we're inheriting from my mother-in-law. (All fluids? new tires?)
If I have time, replace all the control arm bushings in the Miata. Replace the stock rear springs with some cheap coilovers I have.
Polish up the Miata for World of Wheels in February. I believe I'll be in the SCCA display.

Yes, adjustable coil-overs are legal in STS/STS2. They'll mount up to my KYB AGX shocks.

Cheap - yeah, as long as they don't move around. One guy that has his Miata set up really well was running the same cheap, generic coilover setup. It will be better than stock, because I'll be able to corner weight the car for a more balanced setup.
I believe
cheap will be fine in this case. If not, back to stock springs. I'm not sure I'm willing to pay for Teins or ???

my bike is getting some new paint next month.... painting a white spider across the top of the tank. Getting the handlebar powdercoated black also so there will be no chrome on the bike, and since I can't find anyone that makes them I'm gonna lay up my own carbon fiber timing chain covers. Then the heads and cylinder sleeves will probably find themselves in the mill, new bigger pistons and some modifications to the head.
Will post pictures after the paint job I still have to find out how I'm gonna get the paint in Italy.

finish "resurfacing" the used invader kit I bought and save up $$$$ for a paint job. Then in the spring put the kit on along w/ laser fenders and blow all that $$$$ on the paint job.

My goals for this upcoming year:
Winter: Now til March
finish exhaust, new intake, rear disc install, '98 powdercoated red valve cover w/ polished plug cover. tokico's w/ eibach springs and poly bushings. 21 mm sway bar. race engine will receive various parts but not slated to be 100% complete until mid summer. i hope to have cam gears, UDP, ODP, race fuel rail, pnp'd intake mani, 65mm TB, and race cams installed in it by march 1st...
Spring: March- June
New trunk lid w/ molded reflector and filled holes where the spoiler goes. Add on non-ricer spoiler. Carbon fiber hood, clear cornered headlights, Continue race engine project with the addition of low/high compression pistons (depends on turbo or not), forged rods, arp bolts, pnp'd head, 1mm oversize valves, new wheels and tires, installation of red underglow, double guage pod and guages, maybe a new sterero and a sub...
Summer: June-September

Hopefully taking my car to Omaha to have a complete Megasquirt stand alone engine management system put in and tuned.
Getting the windows retinted. Probably going to get rid of the flamed tint and just go with black to match the car's paint scheme.
Getting the trunk finished up. Going to mold a 10" flat screen, video camera and two 4" speakers into the top of the trunk lid so that we can play games and watch movies out the back of my car at shows.
I think that's it....

its my daily driver for now, latter on i will have the head polished/ported. maybe up the displacement and get larger piston rings with 14-1 pistons. i need to get a new tb and manifold first, i might get the setup from raceline or try to find the focus wrc tb and manifold with high lift cams.

Dec 22 2005, 10:46 PM
14:1 compression?! wow! going big are we? better make sure the car can breathe and you can get the fuel and oil in there 8)
jdrzx2
Dec 23 2005, 02:12 PM
that's why i want the wrc manifold and tb, it'll be about a thousand for that after taxes, besides i don't want to turbocharge the car.
arden
Dec 23 2005, 05:07 PM
yeah of course... if your not going to go turbo, the only way to make decent amounts of power is to bump up the compression and build the bottom and top end  good luck with your project and keep us updated!

the only thing i have had on my mind is what class the scca will put me in once i'm done with the car.
arden
Dec 25 2005, 11:51 PM
street modified of some kind. that class basically allows all modifications within safety reasons... pretty trick cars in that class, but the scort is a good car if you hook it up and tune it properly :D ill be with ya this summer along with jared i bet

i shouldn't have all i want done to the car done by the summer, i don't know anything about solo2 racing other than one car at a time. when i lived in cali i raced club ssc in my zx2, i was the only one there with one racing against integras, civics, neons and miatas mostly, i never heard an end to criticism out there, especially after i totaled the car on the track.
jdrzx2
Dec 26 2005, 12:18 AM
club SSB series, sorry.
arden
Dec 26 2005, 01:31 PM
you totalled your car racing? well here there is virtually nothing to hit at arrowhead, so its VERY safe. There are some civics and neons but i havent seen any "rice" . Just a bunch of guys that like racing and testing their cars. I have not recieved one bad comment for racing a zx2... in all honesty, its a good car to race. its small, light, good power to weight ratio with some bolt ons and you can make good laps with an aftermarket suspension and racing tires!

Dec 26 2005, 04:16 PM
yes i wrecked it racing. i came out of a turn to fast on the outside trying to pass this other guy and the car flew onto the front right tire and i lost all traction. the car slid into the wall and flipped over about 3 times. i haven't raced since. then i had this wrecker tow my car back to long beach so i could rip all my parts out of it and use them later. the truck never made it back to long beach along with my $48000 car. i broke my back, legs and seriously smashed one of my hands.
