In thinking things out, I've decided that I want to go high-rev with my motor. Tune the thing so it makes a decent amount of torque across the powerband (maybe 140ft/lbs all said and done), but let it rev to over 8000.
It seems to me like it'll be healthier on the drive/valvetrain to do it that way, since it's easier to spin faster than it is to lift more. Also, it seems like it'd be easier because it can hold a lower wheel-torque a lot longer than short bursts of a lot of torque.
Anybody have comments on this? How are you tuning your motor?
Here's how to tell:
High rev:
* Peak torque RPM's are above 5000
* Engine makes over 100hp up to (or past) 7500 RPM
* 4-1 exhaust header
* Necessary upgraded valvetrain
High torque:
* Frequently breaking differentials or axles
* Can chirp second gear on >195mm tires
* 4-2-1 exhaust header
F/I:
* Turbocharged
* Supercharged
* Large shot of nitrous with built internals

Forced induction :twisted:
High torque...as it is more fun for daily driving and good gas mileage.
Once engine blows. 8.5:1 built bullit proof cgi is going in with a turbo hanging like a wart. :twisted:

yay i chose taco!!! although seeing as that i can smoke my tires thru 2nd and chirp 3rd at 70 + mph AND i still make over 100hp at 7500 i didn't know what to choose, so i went with taco

You've got twice the cylinders, so you've gotta double the torque and horsepower numbers, dude!

I had to go with taco also cause I"m hungry.
well I wouldn't even want to put forced induction on my bike. I already got the high reving cause I cruse at around 7000 rpm's and if I could make a 100 hp anywhere I'd be excited.
I feel like I'm forgetting something...... oh yea

definately high torque, the RX7 turbo is high enough HP for me, that thing loves being over 5K
