new muffler, or bent 3 inch pipe, thanks for the idea insta. the car actually sounds pretty good with it on there and it only took $6.58 and some friends at midas

rear stripping of everything, battery will go in the far back right of car. when i am done i will have to take out the dash, windows, door panels, maaco is going to re-prime and paint the whole interior of the car for around $200. after i get the car back from maaco i will use some red vinyl sheets to cover up holes in the interior to give it a more a more sleek look
http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/7233/img00516ap.jpg
i'm going to have these wheels sandblasted and powder coated with a high gloss black and red in a couple weeks and do a rear disc swap after i have all four calipers for the car powder coated
http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/9295/img00520rd.jpg
when i get the interior painted i will take out this dash and paint it black with red accents, next month i will be ordering two kirkey seats with harnesses and a sparco harness bar

more updated pics
another midas special! modified intake system.

i know the welds don't look that good but the body metal is real thin compared to the pipe, when i pull he pipe the whole car goes with it so i know it's on there good. (it's welded in more than that spot)

my great taping job, the best body shops in the world can't reproduce that.

the finished product!

later on i'll make an elbow to put the filter down where the pipe comes in and an aluminum shield to keep hot air from getting to the filter.

can't wait, i wonder if my hi-comp zx2 (after it's finished) will be able to keep up with you when your done.

the front of the pipe is still really sharp, maybe it will come in good for the random pedestrian or animal crossing the street

lol. wow it took me a second to realize that was your intake pipe sticking out and not your exhaust... do you have a filter and where is your maf at? i hope you never drive that in the rain, you will kill your engine

that pipe just brings more air into that big space where the lower resonator is at, my filter is still up at the top of the engine bay, sometime i'll either make another pipe to take the filter into the cavity or buy the hotshot one. i need to find a good screen to stick on the top of the pipe so rocks and crap don't fly up in there. with the other pipe added on the maf will still be in the same location it is now, i just need to find a mandrel bending machine or fork up the 40 plus shipping for the zxtuner one.
I was gonna say if that was the end of your inlet pipe I was going to cry...
not in sadness either

i thought that through a little and i didn't want to build a seperate filter housing to make the inlet side of my intake. i'll get some more pics later of what my engine bay looks like right now and later when i have the extra pipe in there.

yeah same here. glad you thought about it and you recognize possible problems of actually making your intake that low. good luck with it

so i took my car to the dyno today, it did a lot better than i thought it would, then it started idling around 1700 rpm after it was done, i have no clue why. i cleaned all my sensors off and it still did it for a while then stopped out of nowhere, i hope it doesn't start doing it again. anyway here are the results:
first run
1998 zx2, hotsot intake, k&n filter and modified muffler. no pots
appr. 75 degrees
min whp and wtq
61whp 113wtq
max whp and wtq
125whp 131wtq
avg whp and wtq
104whp 123wtq
second run
same as above with pots on
min whp and wtq
55whp 114wtq
max whp and wtq
134whp 136wtq
avg whp and tq
103whp 127wtq
can you scan those sheets?
OR
send me the dyno file because I can look at those too.

My only issue is that FULL bolt-on zx2s run around 140-155 whp MAX(Tuned by professionals with SCT)...you have an intake, pots, and a removed muffler(which does about jack shit)
Im not saying your lieing but honestly I dont believe the numbers.
Its one of the situations where it would be the biggest factory freak EVER...

ok, i'll scan the sheets, and you can see them for yourself. i have videos of the dyno run to. when was the last time you removed your muffler. i have read articles where people take off thier mufflers and gain 10 hp.

there you go, if you still don't believe the numbers, give the guy a call, his name is jake. ask him how reliable he thinks his dyno is. if i'm not mistaked rich, screethoprez, had jake do some work for him last year.
the page on the bottom is without the pots mod.

Ok so now your telling me you not only made damn near what a full bolton makes but on a MUSTANG DYNO which loads the wheels and typically gives you lesser hp numbers. So you have the hp now that I have full bolton...
And no those people who told you removing the muffler gave you 10hp are full of shit. A full catback on our car has proved dynos from 4-8hp...a muffler removeale will not net you a damn thing more than maybe 1...which is really immeasurable.
You have to look at this from every other owner of a zx2 that has had his car dynoed...your numbers dont make sense AT ALL. Like I said your car has to be a freak of nature to pull those numbers. Are you sure someone didnt mess with the internals before you got it? Like cams or milling the head?..anything

the car ran a max of 125 whp without pots, you said that full bolt on zx2s runa max of 155 whp. that is a 30 whp difference, what the f*ck are you complaining about. the only things that make a bigger difference than that are turbocharges, superchargers, big compression and displacement mods.
and another thing, nobody told me that taking the muffler off does that, i read it, start reading my post. besides, i don't think magazines like street tuner and import tuner would just post articles like that if there was no proof and i never said that people with zx2s have removed thier mufflers and gotten that horsepower gain.
you think you know so much shit man, if you truly believed the world was flat there would be no way of me proving to you that it was round, even with proof that it was. there are a lot of people on here like that, you can't believe anything because you just know EVERYTHING.

I believe its the type of dyno you're on.
With that said, I am god.
This post is being locked.
oh btw removing the muffler from other cars might be proven hp, but the zx2 is not one of them.
